Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday.
Here's LeAnne's fabulous sketch this week. We hope you will join us at the Paper Players and play along
For the first time in a couple of weeks, I have my Paper Players card ready! It took me FOREVER to make a card. Seriously. There is so much that I should be doing around the house – now that we have FURNITURE!!!! (yes, Terri – we do have furniture!) The last couple of days have been spent running around unpacking boxes, moving furniture and trying to get everything in its place.
All the time that I was trying to make a card today, my mind was running through the list of things I have to do and was absolutely not on my card. My desk is normally really clean when I work. If I take out a stamp, I clean it and put it away the minute I'm finished stamping. Scissors are immediately put back in their holder. Inks are always put away the minute I have stamped. Paper packed away in my drawer. Handle it, use it, pack it… that's usually my motto.
When my mind is off somewhere else…. well, my desk ends up as chaotic as my mind. Today, I eventually had to stand back because I was getting nowhere. I stood back and this is what my desk looked like. Call it Tornado Alley!
No wonder I couldnt get a card finished. I started 3 cards. It was crazy. I knew that I had to clean the entire thing. Put everything away and finish the 3rd card I had started. It took me 2.5 hours to get my desk into this mess and about 5 minutes to clean it. Only when it was nice and clean and everything back in its place could I concentrate on finishing the card.
Here's what I came up with for LeAnne's fabulous sketch
In the end… I was really pleased with it. I love that LeAnne allowed us to choose the shape for the middle focal element.
I love my glimmer paper, but hate wasting it. So, because I needed a border that was 5 1/4 x 4 – I really didnt want to waste all of the fabulous glimmer behind the white layer. This is what I did.
I cut a piece to fit under my white layer. Then I took my craft knife and cut out the middle. Leaving me enough to add gluestrip so that I could mount the white layer on the glimmer paper border. The nice big piece, that would have been hidden under the white layer, is now available to use with something else.
Don't forget to check out the design team member blogs. It's amazing how each one of us has done something totally different with this sketch.

Sigh, it takes me 5 minutes to mess up my desk like that, then 2.5 hours to tidy it back up! Your card was well worth the effort – it’s beautiful.
Love this card and thanks for the tip. I really enjoy hearing about your house and love seeing it, the kitties, and the wildlife. Not much like it where I am in MN, but nice to know you are nearby. Hugs.
Terri, I had exactly the same thought!
That is one fabulous card, Jaydee. I love the clean yet sparkly look.
And such a happy bluebird 🙂 You know, I suddenly thought the other day that I had seen a bluebird recently. However, when I tried to remember where I had seen it, I couldn’t bring that to mind at all. I came to the conclusion that I dreamed it. I think it must have been all the wishful thinking I was doing after hearing about your bluebirds! I’m glad one of us has real-life BBs. 😉
Beautiful card. And if only my desk were that “clean” when it’s messy. Disaster area wouldn’t even begin to describe it. As always, love the pictures of your adorable creatures – both inside and out. You know I’m still envious, but happy for you!
Love, love love this card and the tip about not wasting the precious paper. I know you are pleased with all the furniture. Now to get it all set up for company. Won’t that be fun. Thanks for sharing.
Love the card, so pretty! Really enjoyed the Bailey photos, he reminds me so of our dear Dillon who passed aways several years ago. One of our current kitties, Alex, does the same thing with boxes. I feel he sometimes prefers to squish down into a smaller box. They do the funniest things.
The card is gorgeous – and I enjoy reading your personal “note”.
Oh my gosh, Jaydee!!! This card is GORGEOUS! I need that glimmer paper! VERY thrifty of you to not waste any of it 😉 Your tree is fantastic!!! Glad you are getting settled and that the animals have a comfy place to lay down 😉 They always pick the silliest and cutest places!!
LOVE your craft table….I’m envious! LOL!
Hi Jaydee! Oh, what a lovely card you’ve made! I like that glimmer tree and your sentiment is perfect. Great take on this sketch. It was worth all 3 cards! I have to laugh at your desktop. When creating, mine looks like that too. And once clean, it’s a breath of fresh air. My desk is my dining room table, so it must be put back in order or we don’t eat. ; ) Your happy little bluebird put a big smile on my face as did Bailey. Great photos! Hope your Sunday is happy!
5 min to mess up a table, 10 to mess the room, Your cardis lovely. So is the blue bird, thanks for sharing!
Absolutely stunning, Jaydee! It is one of the most gorgeous cards I have seen! A perfect mix of sparkle and texture!
I just love when you share pictures of Bailey. He’s such a handsome cat. My desk looks worse than that right now and I think that’s why I am not in there stamping. 🙂 Great card; love the glittery tree!
My goodness Jaydee, you have created a truly amazing card! I love the elegance of it and the glimmer paper. Your new craft space looks so serene (when tidy) love it! I need to tidy my space before I can craft too
Great to see you this week!
i am new to your blog but now check it out every day. love your cards but also love the outdoor birds , being a bird lover myself, really enjoy yours. and glad your and the furry critters are enjoying the new furniture. keep up the good ideas.!
I love reading your posts and looking at all the friendly outdoor animals that stop by. Also, the Christmas card is beautiful. Hope you enjoy the new week coming. Thank you.

Before I even commented I had to pinned that gorgeous (GORGEOUS I tell ya!) card! It may have taken you hours to get it together, but oh boy howdy, was it worth the time. That is one stunning card!!
I’m with you, I hate to “waste” the glimmer paper so I’ve been known to do the exact same thing! :o) As for taking care of getting that desk cleaned up, I’m with everyone else. It takes me mere moments to destroy my workspace and forever to return it to “normal”. :oP However, I work far more efficiently when I start with a lovely clean space. :o)
Mr. Bailey is a hoot! George is just like him, constantly seeking out boxes in which to rest. He so loves it when the UPS man arrives. ;o)
Furniture–even furniture you had to comprise on–is a GOOD thing. Hooray!!
That little bluebird made me so happy! :o) Bluebirds of happiness, right?
Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou! I hope Jaydee didn’t work you to hard getting the house together. ;o)
That glittery tree is magical … and I love the vellum sentiment.
Wow this is sooo pretty Jaydee! Love all the sparkle and shimmer and the vellum layered greeting is the perfect touch! Will have to put this in the ‘case me’ file!!
I love your glittery tree and the background of your card as well! Really nice card (as usual)!!
I also enjoy reading your blog and viewing your pictures of the wildlife!!
Hmmmm. Now that the furniture has arrived, we might get to view some pictures of your lovely home as well! 😉
Take Care.
Absolutely magical, Jaydee. The perfect holiday card. I adore it, truly. Love how you’ve embossed the squares from the sketch but kept them white and that tree….happy sigh! Love everything about this one! ((hugs))
I am a bit late reading my email but this card is great. Love the sentiment and it goes perfectly with the card. Lots of fussy cutting but I know you like to do that. Enjoy your new furniture and your company when they get there.
My desk looks exactly like that when I get my craft on, too! Lol! Actually I think you and I might have the SAME desk with the storage on the sides…hmmm! I’m pretty sure you already know what I am going to say about your card, but I have to finish swooning first. Hooray for all of that fabulous Glimmer Paper! Wowza! This is one super festive holiday card, indeed! Love it!
Give little Chester a big hug from me! He is so beautiful and looks really happy in his new digs! 🙂
