Paper Players Challenge # 19 – Happy Anniversary to Us!

Hi Everyone.

Very quick post for you tonight.  It is my pleasure to host the Paper Players Challenge this week.  I won't be posting the inspiration pick and deets on this card until tomorrow (cos I need to go and get ready!!!)

It's a COLOR challenge this week…. I confused everyone by calling it an inspiration challenge! It definitely is a color challenge.  Basic Black, Red and White. 

I decided that, as it is our anniversary today, then I would use the theme to inspire me for a couple of love cards.  I did one other which I will show you later in the week.  So, why this particular photo?  Well, many of you may know that Minnesota is famous for its cold weather, lots of snow and red barns?  If you didn't know that before you read this, you know now :-)   Well, as Lou and I met in Minnesota, and we are coming into winter – and I love the winters here…. I thought it was a perfect inspiration pick for a challenge that fell on our anniversary!

I decided to use sparkly bling instead of white.  Hey, the rhinestones are still white, right?

Card recipe:

• Card stock:    Riding Hood Red, Basic Black
• DSP:  Patterns Pack
• Stamps:  I (love) love wheel
• Tools:  Hearts Die with Big Shot, embossing powder, heat gun
• Accessories:  Black grosgrain ribbon, basic rhinestones

Card instructions:

• Cut Basic Black card stock to A2 – score and fold on the top
• Cut Riding Hood Red to 4 x 5 1/4
• Cut DSP to 3 3/4 x 5 and adhere to Riding Hood Red
• Wrap grosgrain ribbon around Riding Hood Red and DSP and secure underneath.  Adhere this layer to the card base using stmapin' dimensionals
• Cut out heart from the Heart dies.  Ink up using versamark and emboss with clear embossing powder
• Ink up wheel with Versamark and wheel onto Riding Hood Red.  Use clear embossing powder and heat set
• Cut stamped image to size you want it to be.  I chose to highlight certain wording on the wheel and that dictated the size.
• Adhere to Basic Black mat
• Add basic rhinestones to the base of the embossed layer
• Adhere embossed heart.

Thanks to all of you who left us messages wishing us a happy anniversary!  Thanks to Beverly, too for her wonderful e-card.  It really made me happy!

We had a great anniversary last night.  We went to dinner at our favorite restaurant and Lou had booked the wine cellar for an intimate dinner.  We arrived at dinner at 7.30 and left after 11!  It was a great dinner!

Lou leaves town tomorrow for Singapore and Australia, so we are running around trying to make sure that everything that he needs to get done is completed before tomorrow morning.  I don't think I'm going to get into my stamping room today, which means I am really going to be suffering from withdrawl symptoms.
