Paper Players Challenge # 67

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

Sorry that I have been MIA the last two days.  It has been a really, really long week and I ended up working all day today, too.  Actually I got more done today than normal, because no-one was bugging me via IM at work! :-)   I did manage to get into my stamping space later this afternoon, though.

I realized this morning that it was my turn to host the challenge across at the Paper Players this week.  How on earth did I forget that!!!  So, I had to quickly rush and make a card using the colors that I chose for this week's challenge.

Challenge 67
My immediate reaction had been to use my French Foliage set, but I decided to push myself to create a fall colored card that was not fall related.  I looked at one of my favorite sets – Friends 24×7 and decided that this would be ideal.  I really do love this set and could never get rid of it.

Then, I needed a layout…. so, I went along to FreshlyMade and used the sketch for this week.

Once I had made my stamp choice, I then chose a little piece of the Wonderfully Worn DSP to provide the vertical element.  The last choice….. what element would go in the corner?   mmmm…. sentiment…. definitely… what?  no ribbon?  seriously?  me… no ribbon???  never!

Anyway, here's what I came up with

Pp67

So, I sneaked the Cajun Craze in the sentiment and the branch under the bird.  I also used it to pepper the background (along with Bravo Burgundy and More Mustard).

Of course, I had to give the bird a little bit of life and color a little Basic Pearl with a sharpie and add it as his eye.

We hope that you will pop along to the Paper Players and check out the fabulous design team creations – and they are fabulous – and we also hope that you will play along with us this week!

Have a wonderful Saturday.  Hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight

Hugs

Jayde

  1. Perfectly sketched. All the elements go together so flawlessly, the sentiment, popped up bird on the branch, the speckled background. This is a CAS for me.

  2. Jaydee, I just love how you showcased the colors with the Friends 24/7 set! My immediate thought for the colors was fall…then I thought of trying masculine…but ended up back at fall. You really created a beautiful, classic card for any time of year, with this set. I love it! I ws a little shocked not to see ribbon on one of your cards, but in this case, it truly works perfectly. Hope you are enjoying the rest of your weekend! Thanks for a fun challenge this week! Hugs! 🙂

  3. Jaydee, what a pretty card! The More Mustard in your focal image really ties everything together. The ‘peppering’ of the colors in the background was the perfect subtle addition. Great card!

  4. Lovely CAS card, Jaydee! The speckled background really pairs well with the dsp and the vintage style of the bird. Beautiful color choices this week too–you’ve opened my eyes to Bravo Burgandy…I never gave it a second look before this challenge…and now I love it! (hugs)

  5. I showed my sister this card and she LOVED it. I love it too! She loves birds and she thought you had coloured everything so amazingly! Great challenge this week Jaydee.

  6. Jaydee, Thank you for such a wonderful color challenge. I love your use of the Well Worn dsp for this card. I always see it as masculine, but you have shown me otherwise. I love seeing 24-7 as well and how you have used it perfectly.
