“Perk”y week – Paper Players # 162

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday night.

The fabulous LeAnne has a great color challenge for us at the Paper Players this week.   The thing I love about color challenges?  I am forced to include colors I rarely….well, truthfully NEVER use :-)   Rich Razzleberry is one of those colors :-)   I loved that LeAnne paired it with Pool Party and Basic Black.

It took me a little while to decide which route I was going to take and I remembered Gorgeous Grunge.   Once I had that in my head, I remembered a new set I had bought to make cards for OWH. Color choices?  Check.  Stamps?  Check!

I stamped the cup image onto Whisper White card stock and colored them with my Rich Razzleberry and Pool Party Markers.  I fussy cut around it and then covered it with Glossy Accents and set it aside to throroughly dry.  I used a couple of stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge set with both the Rich Razzleberry and Pool party ink.    All that was left, was to stamp the sentiment,  mount the coffee cups on dimensionals and add a little bling in the form of sequins.

Tips:

  • I love using sequins, but hate that they get onto my hands and I cannot get them off!  Too much static.  So, I hit upon the idea of rubbing my embossing buddy all over my hands and fingers.  It really helped to lessen the static.
  • I adhere the sequins to the card base with a tiny touch of Glossy Accents.  I drop a little Glossy Accents on my Silicone Craft Sheet and use my tweezers to pick up the sequin and quickly touch it to the Glossy Accents and place it down where I need it on the card.  It takes a couple of minutes to really dry, but they are very secure!

Here's my card

Perky Week

I love the Glossy Accents on the cups – I know it's difficult to see on the card, but it does add a nice shine and more interest.  Another card that was included in the OWH drive 🙂

Don't forget to join us and play along this week and check out the fabulous inspiration cards from our design team:

On a personal note:

Lou and I just got back from a week away and I'll have more details on that little excursion tomorrow!  I'll also have an update on the OWH card drive as more cards arrived whilst I was away!  This is really going to be an awesome drive and I can't wait to give you a little update on that.

We got back to temps in the high 90s again.   Looking at our poor garden, it appears to have been pretty hot whilst we have been gone and is scheduled to be above normal for the next few days, too.  Colleen, I don't know how you handle the continuous heat.  Our poor ferns are all expired.  Too much heat and nowhere near enough rain have taken their toll on them.  Even our black-eyed susan's seem to be looking a little worse for wear!    We really felt the heat when we got off the plane, especially as we had been experiencing temperatures in the 50s and 60s!

In the week we have been gone, signs of fall are noticeable.  I sat on the deck for a few minutes this afternoon and leaves were falling around me and some of the trees are definitely starting to show the first signs of their autumn colors.   I think it is officially time to bring out some fall decorations:-)

Thank you to all of you for your patience whilst we have been gone.   I really appreciate your visits and comments.

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.   I'll be back tomorrow, in the meantime have a wonderful Saturday night.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Love the coffee/tea cups Jaydee! Such a cheery card with pretty colors. I’d want to feel those shiny cups in my fingers if I rec’d this card in the mail. ; )
Our Autumn trees have started dropping leaves and showing their colors too. We do need a good rainfall here as well. The biggest sign I’ve noticed is my hummers have been visiting less and less. I’ll keep my feeder out until October in case I get a visitor from the North making their journey South. I sure will miss their company on my patio.
Hope you have a restful Sunday after your trip. Can’t wait to hear about your journey!

  2. Cute cute card, Jaydee!
Autumn colors are starting to appear but not the temps. However, it’s been such a wonderfully cool summer (for here!) I can’t complain.
I can’t wait to hear all about your trip and the OWH cards!
    Hugs!
    P.S. Hi Lou! :o)

  3. LOVE this, Jaydee….a fresh way to use the colors and I love the sequins SO much! This reminds me that I have only had one cup of coffee this morning…need some more! Thanks for using my colors in such a great way!

  4. What a fun stack of tea cups and I bet they look so much better in person with your glossy accents. Cute sentiment too, and I like the grungy background. Welcome home!

  5. This is fabulous Jaydee! I love the glossy teacups and you’ve used the GG set perfectly in the background. It really grounds the images. Love the sprinkled sequins too! ((hugs))

  6. As I sip my own coffee while typing this comment…I love everything about your card, Jaydee! The sequins are so fun and I love how the sentiment pops ove the edges of the card. Very fun!
