Playful Pets for Paper Players 518

Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it is sketch week:

Now, I have to admit… this sketch scared me!  What really scared me about it was trying to get all those pieces of paper straight.  and, of course, I didn't quite make it!  However, I do love the look of the playful pets suite paper and love it with the sentiment that I got in a set from Frantic Stamper.  This is another card that is being sent off to Send a Smile 4 Kids… so I think someone might enjoy being told they are the cat's meow!

Here's my card:

Cats Meow (1 of 1)-5

This really is cute paper!  I hope you will join us and play along with our sketch.  As usual, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you

On a personal note:

GAH!  My camera is broken again!  However, I did manage to get a couple of shots of the new snowfall on the pumpkins and lamps.  It looks so pretty.  Mind you… there is only 1 pumpkin left!  The deer and other animals have had a Thanksgiving Feast all of their own this last week or so!

Snowfall (1 of 1)

I captured this photo through the office window of the white squirrel on the pumpkin.  So, it's official, the white squirrel is still visiting us a more than year after we first saw him/her!  Sorry it's not a great photo – but I love seeing him/her 🙂

White squirrel

This coming weekend, the bail and remaining pumpkin will be distributed and Lou will be putting up the Christmas decorations.  I will also be making some ribbon garlands for the mantles and staircase and our fall decorations will be changed out for winter themed decorations.  For some reason, this year has compelled to me decorate far more than usual.  One of the things I did was change out the normal painting above the mantle in the family room for this fabulous hand-crafted sign that I saw on Etsy.  The poem really says October eves… but I wanted to change it up and am sure that Humbert Wolfe will forgive me for changing out the words 🙂

I love it on the mantlepiece with the candles and ribbon garland.  Both Lou and I smile everytime we look at it.  It was especially fitting as we put it up the day after we had a massive wind storm and it had blown most of the leaves off the trees :-)  And, in case you are wondering… yes… I did go and center the candles after I had taken the photo 🙂

Autumeves

I love shopping at Etsy and finding so many wonderful hand made goodies.  For some reason, this year, more than any other year, seems to need hand made things!  Talking of hand made things, I am back to my craft room to finish up making cards for the seniors and the kids and the military families.  I'll be back later with Day 4 of 12 Cards of Christmas.

In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Super cute card, love your paper choices! I had the same fear with the sketch! I so love sketch challenges, but struggle lining up multiple pieces!

  2. Loved the poem!! I will be waiting for your Christmas decorations. I have tried hard, but I cannot see the white squirrel. It shows as if LeAnne blog has been deleted . . . will try later. Have a great day Jaydee!!!

  3. Your care is the best. Of course I love anything to do with cats and dogs. May I ask what size you did your paper strips? Everyone will smile when they receive this card in the mail. Thanks

  4. Jaydee, I love all the photos that you share. They are always so interesting and all Minnesota. This year I’m not in the Christmas spirit because I want to keep my fall decorations up longer. We were on vacation for the month of October so I didn’t get enough of my pumpkins!!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!! Kris

  5. Visiting your blog is such a treat Jaydee! First of all for your fabulous card, which I love for the clever patterned papers with the fun cat theme. And then for the nature tour outside, so glad the special white squirrel is still visiting. And then the sign on your mantle stole my heart, it’s such a wonderful quote about autumn and a total keeper.

  6. Thanks for how you share your cards with all those organizations, Jaydee! Makes me happy for sure! Sorry for the scary sketch, but I think you nailed it! White on white is more forgiving for lining stuff up, so I think you were good! Happy Thanksgiving!

  7. Well – scared you may have been but…you sure hit it out of the park! Adorable! And – your white squirrel is really cute. Have fun changing from Fall to Christmas decor – can’t wait for the pictures! 🙂

  8. I loved this sketch and I think you aced it too, despite your reservations! I love the paper pattern combo you chose; your card truly is the cat’s miaow!

  9. I love how you showcased this paper so beautifully on the clean background, Jaydee. It really pops! I always love seeing the beautiful photos you share. Although I’m a wee bit jealous of your snow. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, my friend. Big hugs!!

  10. Kris, I so get that feeling…. I wasn’t happy about moving from summer to autumn…. but when it came to taking down the autumn decorations this week… I realized how much I had enjoyed looking at the warm colors and the memories they inspire. Have a fabulous week
