Poinsettia Cluster for Just Us Girls 786

Happy Friday -again 🙂

I have a quick card for you.  It was made for the new CASE the designer challenge across at Just Us Girls.  I chose to case Ina's card.  I was inspired by the browns, greens, splatters and placement of the focal image.  I used a die set called Poinsettia Cluster from Waffle Flower for my card.

Here's a sneak peek:

And here's design team member Ina's card from the Just Us Girls that I used as my inspiration.  I was also inspired to bring out some Naturals cardstock from SU that I bought back in the very early days of my stamping journing – so well over a decade ago!   I wanted to keep a softer color background to match the brownish areas of the inspiration card, rather than my usual white!

I began with the focal image – my poinsettia cluster.   I die cut all the elements from white cardstock, some of them twice, and then used my blending brushes and inks to color them.   I often prefer to use white cardstock with ink blending than die cutting with colored cardstock.  Sometimes, like today, I am looking for a variety of shading and coloring that I can only really get from ink blending.

The next thing to tackle was the background.  Ina's card has a more organic background, but I wanted to go something a little more structured to fit better with the poinsettia.  So I used my chevron stencil, but chose to use the greens and browns from Ina's inspiration card.  I added some splatters with gold watercolor paint and then assembled my flower and adhered it to the base.  Prior to that, I added the sentiment from the Family Christmas sentiments set from Waffle Flower.

Here's my card:

I know the design team have JUGS would love it if you played along!  I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs
