Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week – and it's sketch week – and time to showcase Stampin' Up! Poinsettia Petals – again!
I have to be honest…. this Sketch scared me!!! Did you notice how many layers there are? However, I had fun playing with the new Poinsettia Petals stamp set and some Plush Poinsettia specialty paper – along with a piece from the Wonder of the Season specialty paper. Once again, I used olive greens and grey greens for the leaves – I am not sure I am ever going to be able to color this stamp with red 🙂
And if that wasn't enough specialty paper – I added in a gold foil strip, too!
Because the Plush Poinsettia is pretty transparent, I added a piece of white card stock behind it. That hid the text from the base of the card. Here's my card:
I kept the inside really clean and simple:
I added a poinsettia to the envelope, as well as a sentiment.
In the end, I loved playing with this sketch – so…. thanks Joanne for taking me out of my comfort zone!

I totally agree with Linda – your card is awesome and you totally owned that sketch! The first thing that greatly impressed me is that you used that ‘newsprint’ paper that has been a disappointment to me from the second I saw it – but you used it beautifully!

Lou, thank you! 🙂 I know what you mean about the paper…. it is SO in your face and the prints are much larger than I anticipated, especially for cards. SO hiding it is the only thing I can think to do with it 🙂

I was thinking about you, Jaydee, our CAS queen, when I was trying to come up with how I was going to incorporate all those layers on my card. Your card turned out absolutely exquisite, with the perfect dsp layers and subtle palette for the poinsettia. You made it fresh and crisp, as well as so very elegant. Love it!
Just beautiful! So simple really, but the layers and gold strip really add up to a stunning creation! I am putting this in my “favorites” folder as I just got this set and can’t wait to get it inky!

I immediately thought of you when I saw the layers, Jaydee! You managed to get the layers in and still create a clean and classy design. I love that you didn’t color the poinsettia red, too. Now I need to revisit that newsprint paper…funny how it takes just the right card to make it a “must have”. Just beautiful, my friend!
I had a feeling my sketch was going to be loved by Claire and dreaded by you in equal measure Jaydee, but not only did you rise to the challenge you created a card that is absolutely fabulous and which I am most certainly going to CASE! Just stunning – bravo for embracing the layers!
