Puddle Jumping for Paper Players #449 and FMS # 395

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

Its the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's a theme challenge:

I needed a sketch to help me along, so visited my favorite sketch site – FreshlyMadeSketches

I don't really have many water sport stamps, but was looking through my stash and found this wonderful set that came free with a UK crafting magazine.  I used three stamps from the set and decided it would work 🙂  I know Puddle Jumping isn't an Olympic sport, but it was one I used to love as a kid and would do it now if I didn't think the neighbors would have me carted off 🙂  So, I hope Laurie will forgive me for going with Puddle Jumping for my water sport 🙂

I stamped three images; bunny, rain drops and umbrella onto some Neenah Solar White card stock.  I then stamped the umbrella and bunny image onto some old, retired SU paper and then fussy cut the umbrella, the sou'wester and the wellies.  I adhered them over the original stamped images and colored the bunny, ground and puddle with watercolors.  Of course, water needed a little shimmer and shine, as did the wellies. 🙂

I needed to create the horizontal layer behind the focal element.  I decided not to use DSP, but took out my Ellen Hutson Essentials stitched dies and used them to create the horizontal element.

I added the sentiment and mounted the focal panel onto the card base using fun foam.  Here's my full card:

Doesn't he look as though he is having fun?  Honestly, this was such a great set to get for free!

I hope you will join us and play along this week.  We would love to see your water sport cards.  As usual, the design team have come up with some wonderful inspiration:

On a personal note:

It's been beautiful here weather wise this weekend and we have so enjoyed having a few days off.  Lou has been working hard in the garden and we are now waiting for the pollinator garden to come into full bloom.

In the meantime, Lou bought me some Peonies.  I couldn't resist taking  photo of this beauty – she's huge – and, oh, so gorgeous.  What a stunning color.

Here they are clustered together:

I can't wait for the others to fully blossom.  They will look gorgeous.

Taking about gorgeous, this pretty thing visits our feeder regularly.  This is one of the fledglings.

I'll be back later in the week with another card and some more photos.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Jaydee, when I saw your card it made me SMILE!!!!!! Yes, puddle jumping is a water sport in my book. If you haven’t done it at least once in your life, you are missing out. I have NEVER seen a child that doesn’t head straight for a water puddle! I absolutely love the stitched horizontal lines and all the paper piecing! I always wanted red wellies, but my mom was practical and I only had white. Your card is adorable! Creative genius!
Now, on to the peonies! Just WOW!!!!!! They do not grow well in Atl, but they are the Indiana state flower. My Mom has several in her yard. They are stunning and so is your visitor!
Have a great week, My Friend and I sure hope you are healing and feeling much better! Lots of love!

  2. Fun card! And lovely photos. Seems like you are feeling better…glad you can create and post.

  3. Jaydee, I think puddle jumping completely qualifies as a water sport! I have to admit, I will still occasionally hop in puddles in the yard whenever the opportunity presents itself. You are never too old for that! Such a fun card! Your beautiful blooms are stunning as well. Wow! All of that pretty pink! Have a wonderful day, my friend! Big hugs!

  4. Puddle jumping should be an Olympic sport! What an adorable card, Jaydee! Oh my gosh…such great photos! The bird is stunning! Have a great week!

  5. I think it is a great water sport and it is an adorable stamp, too! Great job with the layout challenge also.

  6. That little guy is absolutely charming! I love the way you’ve incorporated stitching into the sketch. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

  7. LOL..I have never heard of puddle jumping! I will have to try it. I usually ran right through puddles to splash when I was little! Such a cute card and a fun idea!!!!

  8. Puddle jumping – what happy memories Jaydee! Both of my children LOVED nothing more when they were toddlers to put on their wellies on a rainy day and go and run and jump in the puddles – it is almost a right of passage. Your cute bunny in matching wellies and waterproofs is utterly adorable – as are those peonies; Lou is definitely a keeper!
