Queens and Crowns – or is that Tiaras!

Hi Everyone.  Happy Wednesday Night.  Cherie. I always think about you on Wednesdays now:-)

Tonight's card was a whole lot of fun to make.  I even got to play with a color I haven't played with for a while… and one I am sorry to see that SU are not bringing back!  Kiwi Kiss.  I think Kiwi Kiss is one of my favorite greens ever!  I saw this this layout across at stamping411.  It's one I know you will be able to adapt to suit.  I've been dying to use the "Don't treat me any differently than you would a queen!" phrase from the Favorite Thoughts set, but hadn't found the right paper.

Well, I ordered some DSP from the clearance rack at SU and there was this gorgeous Kiwi Kiss paper with little crowns all over it!  Perfect!

Before I show you the card though and give you some more detail, I'd like to thank the fabulous team across at StampinRoyalty for choosing my Butterflies and Tulips 3D project as one of their favorite 3D projects this week.  I was thrilled.  If you haven't checked out the projects and the submission yet, you really should.

So… back to tonight's card.  The layout is clean and simple, so I wanted to keep it that way and allow the DSP to shine.  It really is fabulous DSP btw.  OH… and talking about fabulous DSP… we got a tiny little sneak peek of a couple of the products coming in the new catalog.  Including the new In Colors.  Oh…. I am in love…. yes, definitely, in love.  I am so pleased these new colors will be hanging around for two years.  They are Blushing Bride, Concord Crush (think Smuckers Grape Juice!), Pear Pizzazz (think fabulous green pears), Peach Parfait (absolutely edible) and Poppy Parade.  We got to see one small photograph of the Daffodil, Pear and Peach together – oh… it really is gorgeous.

So. where was I… Oh… yes… tonight's card.  The thought of the new catty is distracting me!

Crowns

I love the crisp clean Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White and Basic Black combination.  The only change I made to the layout was to put the three circular elements at the bottom right corner instead of the top right.  I thought it helped to balance out the black sentiment at the top.

The paper is from the retired Rockabilly DSP.  It has a fabulous feel to it, too.  Of course, it was a great excuse to bring out the Kiwi Kiss and Very Vanilla satin ribbon.  Oh… another distraction… we got to see a couple of snippets of the new ribbon that is coming out in the new catty, too!  We know that there are new punches, new goodies for the Big Shot, new ribbons and new embellishments.  I really can't wait.  I'll be up late on June 1 to have a look at the few things they allow us to see as sneak previews and will be placing my pre-order.  I really can't wait to get my hands on the goodies and show you what I can – as soon as I can.

Well, you all know I love doing challenges.  They really have helped me to grow in these last few months, because they push me to doing things that I wouldn't normally do and that really has helped to stretch my creativity.  Well…. today, I was asked to be part of a newly forming challenge site!  I was so.. so.. honored and am very excited.  It was especially flattering for me because I happen to have a great respect for the person who is setting up the challenge site.  She is tremendously talented and such a fun and fabulous person.  So, I'm expecting that the challenges she sets us all will be fun.  As soon as I can give you more info on that, I certainly will.  And.. you know that I'm going to be asking you to join us in the fun…..

On a personal note… Lou is still away.  I'd like to say it gives me more time to stamp, but realistically it gives me less because the things that he would normally do, I now have to do.  Consequently, I have only managed to stamp one card this week.  In fact, it was tonight.  I used the new "It's the Thought" set. I love this set!  It really appealed to my sense of humo(u)r the minute I saw it.  I'm hoping to get to stamp this weekend, and know that this will be getting inked up a little more.

Trish…. we continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers.  I know that it is difficult for you right now, but please know that you are in our prayers.  Germaine, we haven't heard from you for a little while either, so I hope you are doing OK.   Beth, we know it's your 31st wedding anniversary this week.. we aren't sure when… but Happy Anniversary to you both.

As always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits are always appreciated, as is your support and your comments.  You also know that it isn't just me that appreciates your comments, I've heard from many of you that you appreciate reading each other's comments!

If you have any questions on the notes I left on Smooch Spritz last night, or something wasn't quite clear…. just leave me a comment and I'll revisit it for you.

Hugs to you all

Jaydee

  1. And a happy Hump Day to you too! Hope it was a great one. I LOVE Kiwi Kiss as well and was bummed it wasn’t coming back. It sounds as if it would have fit right in with the new in colors; peach, pear, concord…and kiwi, see, a whole fruit bowl full of colors. (BTW what is the deal with all of the food names?) Thanks for sharing all of the little sneak peeks with us, you certainly have me waiting impatiently. I’d better hurry up and get my stamping space reorganized so I’ve got room for all of the new goodies.
Have a Great Day One and All!
