Ring Me for Festive Friday #00147

Happy Friday.

It’s another INSPO list challenge across at Festive Friday.  Our challenge this week celebrates World Hello Day.  For my card I used a die and stamp set from MFT called Ring Me.  I love this set, it always fills me with a little nostalgia for the old days.  When the phone used to ring and we’d rush to the entrance hall where the phone proudly sat on the “telephone seat”.  yep… those were the days.  When you had a seat that you had to sit on to use the phone in a single position in the house.  When phones were just phones and had no answering or messaging capabilities.  When, if you were out and about, you had to find a box with a phone in it that took real money to use 🙂

A red and white polka dot phone.  How fun would that have been 🙂

For our Festive Friday challenge, you don’t have to follow the celebration that we are highlighting, all you need to do is choose at least three of the words from our INSPO list.

Once I had stamped and die-cut the elements, I decided to use the Exposed Brick embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!  For some reason, where I grew up, so many of the red phone boxes were erected in front of a wall.  So, this kinda reminded me of home 🙂

The card came together really easily as the sentiment fits perfectly inside the dial area of the phone.  Here’s my card:

Inspo list elements used: Hello sentiment, patterned paper, phone, bright colors

Such a fun challenge.  I hope you will join us and play along with our INSPO list.  We would love to see what you create.  As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well, only 6 weeks left at work and, I must admit, my Sleep Number on my Sleep Number bed app told me today that this past month was my best ever sleep month.  I wonder why?!!!  I still have multiple things to do before we leave on our/my trip, including multiple vaccinations and some of them are for things I had never heard of, like Japanese Encephalitis!  On the list will be the COVID update.  Having just had COVID, and still not being fully recovered, I understand how much worse it could have been for me without the vaccine.  But, my arm is going to feel like a sieve after all the other injections I have to have 🙂

My tours are almost all booked and include cable car rides to take me to the top of the mountains in Tenerife – 11.663 feet above sea level to be exact!  We’ve been warned to wear something warm:-)  I’m not sure about getting to the top of a volcano… But, as it hasn’t erupted since 1909, I’m hoping it stays dormant for a while longer:-)  I’ve also booked overnights in the Arabian desert and at a game reserve in South Africa.  Game reserves I have done very often, but spending the night in the Arabian desert is a new one for me.  I am looking forward to seeing the night skies at both of these places!  Before I leave on my round the world, Lou and I will spend Christmas and New Year cruising in the Caribbean.  We are really looking forward to spending that time on the ship with it all decked out in its Christmas finery:-)

I’ll be back on Sunday with my Paper Players card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Darling card. We had a phone like that when I was a youngster. Fun memories. About your trip, I hope we in blogland will hear about it when it happens.

  2. This polka dot phone is so fun Jaydee! There are some days when I long for simpler days and don’t have to feel like I’m ‘always on/contactable’ – and have fond memories of being tied to the fixed phone line to chat for hours on end to my best friends as teenagers. Love it!
