Happy Sunday.
It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's Tic Tac Toe week! Here's Laurie's board:
I went across the top: die-cut, animal, scene.
I started by stamping the birds from the Robin and Wren set from The Greetery and paired that with Blooming Branch – also from The Greetery. I blended some Pool Party ink onto a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock and then die-cut the top and bottom pieces from the Oval Halfsies dies – also from The Greetery. All that was left to do was assemble the card and create my little scene.
I hope you will join us and play along with Laurie's challenge. We can't wait to see what you create with her board. If you are looking for some inspiration the design team have some wonderful creations for you:
On a personal note:
I don't know about you, but I am ready for spring! As I write my blog, the snow is slowly falling and although it looks so pretty, I'm looking forward to some warmer weather! All the interior Christmas decorations are down and packed away until later this year. It's been too cold outside to take down those decorations, so we are waiting for a warmer day.
Over the last few weeks I have felt the urge to change things up. I thought it was just because I wanted to decorate for Christmas, but now I find myself wondering what I can decorate for next! I was at TJ Maxx yesterday buying a couple of goodies and the lady at the counter told me they have been crazy busy with people wanting to change things up. I think it is because we've been at home so long that even changing out the pillows seems like a welcome change! So, I'm decorating for Valentine's Day. I have NEVER decorated for Valentine's Day… so there you go! I can feel St Patrick's Day and Easter coming up next 🙂
As well as redecorating, I have also been making my own bath salts, room sprays, body wash, etc. It seems my inner Martha Stewart is making an appearance. Mind you, I haven't taken up baking yet. I love cooking – but baking… nah! I can't stand getting my hands all sticky!
I do have a couple of photos for you today. This week we had an unexpected late afternoon visitor. We don't often see owls, so it was a very pleasant surprise. Mind you, the animals and birds disappeared pretty smartly. As he was right outside the back door in the trees, it was easy to observe him. We spent a good 10 minutes just admiring him and being amazed by how far he could turn his head from side to side.
In this photo you can see that he is sitting facing forward – but all we can see is the back of his head:
In this next photo you can see that his head is turned the other way:
Something underneath him caught his attention:
And finally, he decided to look our way:
What a magnificent bird! You can read all about the Barred Owls on this page. I'll be back later in the week with another card and some more photos. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.
Hugs
Jaydee

What a beautiful card, Jaydee! I love the oval halfsies dies and how the branches and flowers are positioned over the edges. Beautifully colored, my friend! Have a wonderful week! I can’t wait to see your Valentine decorations!
Your spring scene is awesome! Your card gives me hope for those brighter days ahead! I too am ready for some warmer weather…it’s been a longer winter then usual with covid and not able to be out and about with people.
I love everything about your card, Jaydee! Your colour choices for those beautiful birds, and little flowers, are perfect. The sentiment stamped in black against the crisp white (very cool die-cut) background looks great. Just gorgeous. And wow – that owl! What a treat to be able to observe him in your snowy garden. Thanks for sharing the photos.
Jaydee, your card is beautiful. I also love those oval halfsies dies and how you used them. Your card does make me think of warmer days to come. We’re once again in the middle of a snow storm. The pictures of the owl are magnificent and yes, they are beautiful birds. Have a great week.
I loved the picture of the beautiful owl. Will you send us pictures of your Valentine’s decorations. Do you celebrate the “Chandeleure”. We prepare lots of “crêpes”!! We celebrate on February 2?
Your card is stunning, Jaydee. It will definitely bring a smile to the recipient’s face. Thanks for the pictures of the beautiful owl. Enjoy your day!
Jaydee, we had a family of barred owls 4 years ago. 3 babies and mom and dad. The birds didn’t feed at our feeders too much. If you are on Facebook please check out RachelKarl Fliris page. He goes around the State of Iowa taking pictures of birds and owls. He has done note cards which of course I had to buy and he has given me a calendar for the last two years with the bird pictures he has taken. Have a great week and be safe. Kris
Your card is so pretty! I love the divided background and the soft sky! As for your owl pics…they are awesome too! It’s always a treat stopping by your blog! Have a great week!
Blue birds are my favorite in real life and in stamps! These are lovely layered beauties and the bright flowers really are a perfect backdrop! Also jealous of your owl; we’re backyard birders and haven’t had anything that cool!
Your bluebirds are just lovely Jaydee! As is your owl visitor – what a beauty! I’m looking forward to seeing your new home decor – I keep buying daffodils and tulips at the moment, anything for a reminder that spring is around the corner!
Your little bluebirds are so bright and cheery, Jaydee! I love the added detail from the die cut borders, too. How amazing that you had such a beautiful visitor to your yard! Such a gorgeous creature…owls are one of my favorites. Your photos are stunning! Big hugs, my friend!
Jaydee, this owl has me captivated! Just WOW! What a sight and such amazing photos! I love all your visitors. I just want to come and sit with you and watch all that goes on in your wetland!
Your card is gorgeous! I love the beautiful scene you created for your bird. I too, am ready for warmer days.
I decorate for all the holidays! LOL! That is the First Grad teacher in me. ENJOY!
