Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday
I have a quick post for you tonight with a guy card. Yep… after the profusion of pink that you have seen on my blog the last couple of days, I decided it was time to change things up a little 🙂
This is my class project for the "For the Guys" class. Jen shares some really cool ideas for masculine cards from sophisticated to fun. I decided to go with the fun and make a card for the boys with an interactive component – one of the suggestions that Jen has.
I don't have many guy sets – and I don't have any Altenew guy sets – so hopefully the team will forgive me :-) I looked through my sets for something that could be interactive and saw this old set that I have had for a few years from Papertrey Ink and it has a guitar in the set. I knew that I would be able to pop that up on a wobbler and it would make a great interactive feature. I'm sorry the photo is out of focus, but it was snowing outside and the lighting wasn't so good…. But you can see how the guitar is away from the card
In one of the other lessons in the class, Jen suggests using geometrics for guy cards. I didn't have many geometric sets, but remembered I had an old Tim Holtz background set that I use primarily for my art journal pages and it had some geometric elements that I thought would work well with a guy card. You can see I mixed circles with squares. I layered the shapes onto the left hand side of the focal panel and then added some elements from the stamp set – musical notes and stars.
All that was left was to add the sentiment and I added both the "Rock On" and "Happy Birthday" and heat embossed them to add even more texture. Of course, I just couldn't help myself…. I decided it needed just a little bit of shine … talking about shine – don't forget blog candy is still up for grabs – see last night's post. I thought the card needed a little pop of color and remembered that I had some old star embellishments that I thought would work well to add a little shine and color – and not go to the "girly side"!
I mounted the focal layer onto a slightly darker grey card base with some fun foam. Here's my interactive – NOT PINK – guy card! Let's see if Lou approves!
I'll be back tomorrow with another card and some nature shots. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Hi Jaydee! I love your rockin card today! The combination of stamp sets is wonderful and your design is really cool. A touch red shine to match the embossing looks perfect!
Hi Jaydee! This really is a masculine card while displaying your signature attention to detail and amazing talent. Just goes to show how incredibly talented you are!!!!
Another way to add just a little bit of shine that I use – wink of Stella!
Really good masculine card and I like the red stars – looks great with the different shades of gray and of course the guitar is so great.
Love the flow and composition of your design, Jaydee! The simplicity and style are perfect for a guy card!
