Hi Everyone.
It's a special post for me today as I am the Guest Designer across at Inkspirational Challenges this week. I was so excited when Marina reached out to me to ask me if I wanted to guest design because of THIS winning card. Heck… that took me about a nano second to reply with YES! I am honored to design beside this very talented team this week.
The team produce some fabulous inspiration photos and this one is NO exception. Here's the inspiration photograph for this week
Isn't that gorgeous. The minute I saw this photo I knew exactly what I was going to do. I had a couple of pieces of some old SU photo based DSP and it had wooden planks on it. All I had to do was to use my Copic markers and color three of the planks and leave one natural (a birch color). here's a closeup of the colored DSP:
Isn't that just perfect for the background? Now…… what to do for the rest of it? I studied the photo for a little while and was attracted to the white frame with the grey insert and white shell. I also noticed the star fish and other shells. Once I had a really close look, I knew exactly what to do for the focal element.
I pulled out an old Fun Stampers Journey set called By the Seashore. I love the images. I love the story on the background stamp. I love how realistic the images are 🙂
I stamped up some of the images and fussy cut around them. I cut out a white frame with my stitched square dies and embossed the sentiment onto a piece of grey card stock. I then mounted the frame over the embossed layer and started to assemble the card.

I couldn't quite get the starfish to be the same as in the inspiration photo, so went with a color that matched the comic marker color on the DSP. I did add a little shimmer and sparkle to the shells and starfish, but I couldn't capture that in the photo.

On a personal note:
Oh… the days continue to be gorgeous. I sat outside this afternoon for about three hours in the screened-in porch. The cats came out and settled themselves down and chased the squirrels. The squirrels know that they can't get to them through the screen, so they just play chase instead. I swear the squirrels stand there teasing them saying "nah nah nah nah na… you can't get me!" They can't get them… but they sure do try!
When we originally put in the screened in porch we were really concerned about the cats tearing the screen. Mmmm… after our storm a month ago, where golf ball+ sized hail hit the screen at 60 mph for 20 minutes and there wasn't a single hole in the screen… we realized it was pretty safe for the cats and they wouldn't be able to tear the screen! It's particularly amazing when you think that our neighbors who had vinyl siding on their houses were no so lucky. Their siding was shredded. So, our screen installer who told us that the screen "would stop a charging rottweiler" wasn't lying 🙂
Here's a photo of the porch. I really need to retake this photo as we have changed out the seating furniture. The dining furniture is still the same, but the sitting area is VERY different.
The porch is 12 feet wide and 30 feet long and is a necessity for us considering we live on a wetland in a State where the mosquitoes are ENORMOUS and VERY aggressive 🙂
Our Orioles are some of my favorite visitors to the feeders. I know you are probably bored of seeing them by now… but I just can't help sharing photos of these gorgeous birds.
For the last couple of years we have been lucky enough to watch them bring up their broods and the young come to the feeder and we can see Mom and Dad teach them how to feed for themselves. Life is a beautiful thing 🙂

Hi Jaydee,
First of all, congrats on being GD for Inspiration – your image was certainly one which made me jump right in and create, after a hiatus so thank YOU!
Your entire card reminds me totally of a scrapbook kit my dear friend KimB (you might want to google her – she always has lovely digital images for download and sweet kits for sale which can easily be adapted for cards etc) Your stamping is beautiful.
You made me giggle about the squirrels. We have a few here too. We called one “Shreddie” coz he would come boldly on our porch (though we could never catch him in the act) and he ‘shredded’ the fabric seat on a chair …
Your porch looks so relaxing and inviting.
