Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday.
I got to play in my craft room this week and found two challenges that were a perfect duo to combine. Cupcake Inspiration Challenge is black, white and silver and CAS on Sunday is black, white and a color of my choice!
I began with a piece of black cardstock and heat embossed the flowers, stems, leaves and sentiment with silver embossing powder. I then mounted the front piece onto a piece of fun foam for a little dimension and mounted that onto a neenah solar white card base. I love the silver with the black and white. I don't think it's a color scheme I have used before – but will definitely use again!

It was really hard to get a good shot of it because of the matte and shine… but I think you get the idea. I love the simple flowers and think they work so well embossed.
On a personal note:
Crazy week….. seriously… I can't tell you how crazy it has been. I'll tell you about it next week. However, one amazing thing did happen this week and I managed to capture it with my camera. I was sitting working at the dinette table and heard noises on the deck. It was so loud that I thought someone was walking around on it, so I quietly moved my chair backwards and looked out of the door. I was so surprised to see the Pileated Woodpecker sitting in the middle of the water bowl looking for water. It was empty and this guy was NOT happy. He was pecking into the bottom of the water bowl – very loudly…. and when he really couldn't find any water – even with all his pecking – he decided to pick up some snow from the edge of the water bowl and melt that on his tongue instead.
Whilst all of this was going on – I was just clicking away with my camera. Most of the shots weren't worth a heck of a lot – but I managed to capture this one last shot and I absolutely LOVE IT.
Isn't he absolutely gorgeous???? These guys never, ever cease to amaze me. I get a thrill everytime I hear them fly in – and yes, they are very easy to distinguish as they make a racket when they fly in.

Your card is beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I have always been fascinated with woodpeckers. How exciting you were able to capture your visitor that shows off his gorgeousness. Great picture! Really shows all the layers of feathers. Love it!
What a lovely card. I’m sure you’ll be using that colour combination again, having had such a beautiful result this time.
And what a wonderful photo. You are SO fortunate to have all the visitors that you do, but I know it’s not just luck, but all the planning and preparation that you and Lou did to make your place inviting for the critters. I’ve never seen a pileated close up and I’m so jealous.
Wowza, I am in love with your pileated shot! I know we have one in the neighborhood….I just saw a HUGE freshly-pecked hole in my neighbor’s tree!!! And the card is pretty special toO!
