Sketch Saturday

Hi Everyone.  Happy Tuesday.

Very quick post for you tonight.

I wanted to share with you a card I made for a challenge site that is new to me – sketch saturday

I love the sketch and was very eager to see what I could do with it.   In the end, I decided to go with a masculine themed card.  Something I always seem to struggle with.  Also, because this is one of the cards that will go into my next charity card drive, I wanted to make it flexible.  To do that, I left it without a sentiment.  Making a card without a sentiment is so alien to me, but, as Brenda told me – not every card has to have a sentiment!   She is so right!

I thought it was about time we had a little blog fun.  How about a freebie?  How about an SU mouse pad?  It's really cute and this little mouse pad could be yours.  How?   Leave me a message on this post telling me what two SU stamp sets I used to create this card.  All correct answers will be put into a random number generator and one lucky person will get my last SU mouse pad.

To create the striped elements behind the focal point, I used my new SU washi tape from the This and That bundle.  It's great quality washi tape and I can't wait to see what others SU releases.

There are three different tapes in the This and That bundle.   The orange, the stripe and a sahara sand color with white numbers on it.  I thought the colors were perfect for a masculine card, especially with the focal image.  I used Sahara Sand as the base card color and the Retiring River Rock for the focal image.

Don't forget to check out this new site…. well, considering they are on challenge number 254 -it's hardly a new site!  but it was new to me!  There are some fabulous inspiration cards from the design team and the challenge participants.   There are also a couple of days left if you want to play along.

On a personal note:

I still find it hard to comprehend what happened in Boston yesterday.  My thoughts and prayers continue for those impacted.  Prayers, too, for Beverlee.

As always, thank you for stopping by.  I'll be back tomorrow with another card.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Great looking manly card.
When it comes to SU stamps; I’m not that well aquainted with em so I’m totally cluelss. Assuming that the eagle is from SU but no idea on name of set.
    Have a great day

  2. Oo. I love the sketch and how you used it. Masculine cards are so hard and this makes it look like it was cake to do. :o)
I’m fairly certain you used “The Open Sea” for the background, but I’m clueless on the lovely eagle.
I’m still working on coming to terms with the tragedy in Boston as well. I just don’t understand it…
    Hugs.
    P.S. Hi Lou!

  3. Great card and the stamp sets used are In the Wilderness and The Open Sea. My Open Sea just arrived yesterday. Thank you for sharing.

  4. The two SU stamp sets are The Open Sea (love, love, love this set!) and In the Wilderness. Nice masculine card. Could be used for a female too though.
