Smorgasbord

Hi Everyone.  Happy Friday night.

As I write this post, we are under a tornado watch and the sky is turbulent, dark and very stormy and the thunder has just started.  So… no eating on the deck tonight!  The tornado watch lasts through midnight tonight and we are guaranteed heavy storms.  All we can do is hope that the damage is light and that the storm passes through quickly and spares everyone.

Tonight's cards are all courtesy of Lynn and is another smorgasbord of great cards that she made for the Operation Write Home card drive.  I know that you have all enjoyed seeing Lynn's other cards – and I don't believe these are any exception.  I have heard from several of you that cards are on the way…. Which, is really exciting 🙂

Here's Lynn's OWH showcase for tonight.

I think this card is stunning.  I love the repetition of dots on the mats and the wings.  Every layer ties together to create a harmonious whole.  I love the bird perched on the leaves of the embosslit!

OK… So I think this card is hysterical.  However, that doesn't take away from the amazing detail that Lynn has put into this card.  The stitching, the coloring.. the fact that the party lady is at an angle, the striped paper matches the stripes on the party hat… it all comes together to create a fabulous card – and that ribbon – adds a touch of class 🙂

I saw this next card on Lynn's blog and loved it… the coloring is fabulous.  Lynn is always so confident in her choices of DSP and it always amazes me how she ties them all together.  The colors of this card are fabulous.  I really wish I could be this bold with color.  Once again, Lynn has put a lot of detail into this card, including cutting out the flowers and mounting them with a dimensional.  And… another great use of ribbon.  This card has a crisp, clean feel and the color choices are very fresh.  Perfect for a summer card.

I hope you enjoyed the browse through more of Lynn's cards tonight :-)  Thank you to those of you who have left her a little love to show your appreciation not only for her talent – but for donating these cards to the card drive.

On a personal note:  I am really tired tonight.  It has been a long week and my thyroid is completely out of whack.  Which leaves me tired, listless, drained of energy, dizzy and all round crabby.  Oh.. talking of crabby…. here's the perfect little card I made that I could have used to send to a couple of people 🙂

Crabby (1)

A quick and easy card to make – but one that I think may bring a smile to someone's face. 🙂

Germaine – so thrilled to hear that you made a card!  WTG!  Lots of people in our prayers tonight – Trish – as always, continued prayers.  Missy and her family, Lynn & Jim, Arthur, "T", Pri and Rach.

My mother always told me that you should never criticize anyone…and she stuck to that her whole life – I rarely heard her complain about – or criticize – anyone.  She said that you never know why they do the things they do until you have walked a mile in their shoes.  It's astonishing how often I have thought about that.  How I wish that she had been alive long enough for me to tell her that she was right on so many things, including some of her "old wives tales".

One of her adages… if you can remember fashion from the first time around, you are too old to wear it this time around :-)  Oh.. brother… when I look at some of the shoes on the market – and some of those flowing caftans – and micro minis… I realize she was SOOO right:-)  Been there, done that, got the broken bones in the foot to prove it!

As always, thank you so much for spending time in my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  You know – for sure – that your support, your visits, and your comments, are all greatly appreciated.

I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday.  Me…. time in my studio… I hope 🙂

Hugs to you all – and – don't forget, smile at a stranger, it may change their life.

Jaydee

  1. Oh, Jaydee….thanks so much for all the kudos on my cards, etc…..really appreciate it alot. I’m just hoping some of these will be of use to the service men and women overseas!
Your “crabby” card is darling! And that is just exactly how I’ve been feeling the last few days!! Don’t even know why – think it’s just too hot to feel anything but crabby right now! LOL!
Hopefully none of those storms will be very bad in your area. Not fun!
And last but not least! I LOVE your mom’s adage about fashion! So very true!!! Yes, we do learn as we get a little older. HA!
    Hugs, Lynn

  2. Thank you Jaydee for sharing Lynn’s cards! They are so adorable! And your crabby card is too! I think Lynn is right! It’s too hot and that makes me crabby too!
Thanks to everyone for praying for my family! My uncle’s funeral was today. I know he would be proud that he had so many people there!
Trish, Germaine, “T”, Pri & Rach, Lynn & Jim and Arthur- prayers for you all!
Thanks for sharing those adages! They seem so true!
Storming here too! A lot of lightning & electricity going off & on! Hope everyone is safe!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

  3. Jaydee, I will be thinking about you and the storms. Our Iowa weather must have traveled north, as we have had tornado watches and warnings twice in the past week! Thanks for sharing Lynn’s cards!

  4. Beautiful cards. Hope you survived the storm with no damage. We just went through the same kind of weather 3 days ago.

  5. Your post today was wonderful to see and read! Lynn’s cards are all lovely, and I just LOVE your hot red crabby card:) Too cute!
I loved hearing your mom’s advice…..she was obviously one smart lady in harmony with her surroundings. We should all learn to be less critical of one another. What a better world we’d live in if we all practiced that!
My friend has been getting battered in N Illinois for the past few weeks with non-stop almost daily storms, high winds, and power outages, so I know what you’re going through! Stay safe!

  6. Great post today Jaydee…I love when you share your mother’s advice. She really must have been an amazing woman. Maybe something to do with her June 14 b-day?! 😉 The crabby card is just too stinking cute, for me I would need to make business sized ones to keep in my pockets at all times. Most people over the age of 5 would get one on a regular basis!
Lynn, your cards have been fantastic. I can’t pick a fav out of the 3 today; they’re all wonderful and I’m sure the troops will be thrilled to receive them.
Warm thoughts and prayer to all of my cyber friends, have a wonderful weekend One & All.

  7. Lynn’s cards have been absolutely adorable. Thanks for sharing them. I love helping Jaydee sort through all of the treasures from her card drive. You are an amazing group of talented people!
I wish I could have met your mother, Jaydee. I love the fashion statement, especially with all of the 80s styles I am seeing here in the UK. I didn’t look good in floral leggings 18 years ago, I’m certainly not going to try them the second time around.
We had a daytrip to Preston today and another warm and sunny day. Tony’s brother lit the barbeque and we had dined on sausages in the back garden. I even had to sit under the shade umbrella as I was getting a little hot. Tomorrow we are going to go rambling in a place the children love called Fairy Glen. There is usually a little stream and waterfall that they like to play in but with the drought we aren’t sure if there will be any water.
    Missing you and Cherie much!
    Brenda

  8. Lynn has a lot of talent. I love the polka dots on the first card and how they continue into the bird! Your crabby card is so cute and simple. I hope you have a better week.
