Snowflakes – in July?

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme to make us feel nice and cool in the middle of the heatwave.

Now… considering we spend 5 months of the year in winter, and I am really enjoying the warmer weather – it felt a little strange making a Christmas card in July, but it was good to get me out of the summer colors and into something cooler!

I began by die-cutting a snowflake and using that as the stencil for my card.   I moved the snowflake around on a white card base and used my Clarity Brushes and some Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass ink to color the areas around the snowflake.

Once the base was ready, I used some Irresistibles white to add some enamel interest to the middle of the snowflakes and then scattered a few holographic snowflake sequins to the card as I wanted to play along with the Just-Add-Ink's challenge this week.  The challenge was to "just add anything with an s" – so, snowflakes and sequins are my "s".

Here's my card:

I hope you will play along with the challenges this week.  If you are looking for some inspiration for the Paper Players challenge, you have to look no further than our design team blogs.

On a personal note:

It's gorgeous here today. In fact it was gorgeous yesterday, too.  Temps in the low 80s with low humidity.  Just blissful.  I find that once I sit outside in the screened in porch "for a few minutes"….. 30 minutes have passed and I still haven't come inside. :-)   It's just wonderful to look out at the green and watch the comings and goings of the birds and the animals.   The cats love it because the Chipmunk runs alongside the porch and they seem to have developed a game.  Chipmunk sits and looks at them  – and they look at him.  Once he decides to make a move, they make a half-hearted run at him.  Chipmunk knows that he is very safe outside the screen. 🙂

The Crane's haven't been back for a few days, but I wanted to share a photo I took of one of them.

I'm off to go and play in my craft room and relax.  I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

    Beautiful photo of the crane.
Wishing you and Lou and very Happy Independence Day tomorrow
    Enjoy your evening

  3. I love your snowflake card and it’s sentiment is very appropriate as the card “feels” so peaceful. Very creative to use the snowflake die as a stencil, and it worked so well. I always enjoy your bird pictures too.

  4. This is a beautiful card. I, however, have decided this year to banish all thoughts of Christmas and winter for at least another 3 or 4 months – I want to enjoy the SUMMER!!!! So I shall bookmark this and see it again in November – at which time I will be scrambling to do my cards, but will also have your lovely crane to bring back summer….
