Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday.
I hope you are all having a great start to the week.
I have the last of my Altenew Educator Certification Program cards to share with you tonight. My card was inspired by the second lesson in Clean, Simple & Colorful Techniques class taught by the fabulous Laura Bassen. This particular lesson focused on coloring with a blending tool and then adding detail with Copic markers. Hey…. when ever do I need to have an excuse to make a card using Copic markers and the flicking technique 🙂
I started by stamping the images for my flowers and leaves onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored them with by blending sponges. Easy, peasy!
You can see the leaves in the photo below and how the blending puts down the first layer of color and then how you can add more detail with the Copics. Once I had the leaves at the point where I was happy, I die-cut them and set them aside and worked on the flowers.
I went to TOWN on the flowers. You can see in the extreme closeup below how many different colors I used – just for the middle of the flower – never mind the petals. There's something about this technique that just gets my creative juices flowing and I can spend many a happy hour just focusing on blending ink 🙂
Once I had finished the flowers and die-cut them, I worked on a simple background . I used the new Altenew background stamp – Pattern Play. I wanted something to anchor the flowers and the focal elements and the pattern play seemed to be just right.
I then die-cut a stitched rectangle and used my blending sponges to cover it. That way I got exactly the color that I wanted, instead of having to fish around in my colored card stock trying to find a piece that worked 🙂
All that was left was to arrange the flowers and the leaves and add the sentiment. Here's my completed card.
You can see how the flowers and leaves really pop when you add the simple flicking technique. It might have taken some time to add the details – and you REALLY don't have to add that much detail – but I enjoyed doing it and was happy with the finished project.
I've had a lot of fun revisiting some old techniques – and learning new ones on these classes. I hope you have enjoyed seeing the cards that I made for the certification.
I'll be back later in the week with another card – and some more photos. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

Beautiful! That’s a 10 if I ever saw one. Love the coloring.
Love this card!! The flowers are stunning but the background is what is perfect to set them off. Beautiful coloring – it is so soothing once you begin and your finished product is great.
Your card is just magnificent. I’ve so enjoyed your journey with Altenew certification. Love the pics of the cat and enjoy the birds and animals a lot.
