Spritz Ornament for Cas-ual Fridays

Hi Everyone.  Happy Wednesday.  I am so close that we are on the other side of the countdown to the end of the week!

I found this great challenge across at cas-ualfridays.  It is a technique challenge on a clean and simple card.  The challenge was to create a CAS card using a misting technique.  Well, I immediately had this idea to create an ornament that had a feeling of a venetian plaster wall.  I realized that I could create this rich, opulent feel using my Gold and Pewter Smooch Spritz bottles.  Here's a closeup so that you get a feel of how gorgeous it really is.

Isn't that mottling gorgeous?  I overspritzed using the gold and then, when it was dry, I gave a couple of gentle spritzes with the Pewter for a little extra dimension of color.

I did create it clean and simple….. but then…. well… you can wait for that pic

If you look carefully you can see that I used an embossing plate for the Very Vanilla layer to add a little subtle texture to echo the texture on the ornament.  The background card stock is Gold Metallic Specialty – and I love it.  It works really well with the gold ornament.  Of course, I had to add some pearls to give it that little bit more zing.

I then decided…mmmmm….. maybe take it up one more notch.  I am so glad I did.  Here's the finished card:

Isn't that much better?  Well, I think it is?  I really felt the ornament needed something to anchor it.  I'm sorry the photos aren't better…. I had to lighten the exposure on this one and now we have lost the subtle texture on the background.

I did layer the Very Vanilla onto the metallic gold using Stampin Dimensionals – just to give it a shadow.  I then did the same with the ornament.  I think the mixture of the spritzing, the pearls and the ribbon against the vanilla and gold looks gorgeous.  It really does look much better in real life!

So, why don't you pop along to cas-ual fridays and check out the fabulous design team and submission cards, I know you will find lots to inspire you.

On to Buzbee watch.

Well… I don't know about this one.  He disappeared and I couldnt find him …. The only give away?  Charlie was at the front door looking up.  I saw that the door was slightly ajar and could hear faint bars of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" coming from behind the door.  So, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, for your amusement, Buzbee in camoflage.

Seriously, I don't know who puts him up to this stuff.  But, I can tell you that this little escapade was more than just wreath riding!  He gave me the run around for quite a while and I will share the pics with you over the next few days!

On a personal note

Yay!  the house is finally underway.  So many last minute things to handle…. aaaaargh.  I thought I had everything finished when the builders sent me an email with 14 questions.  I had gotten part the way through the answers when another one arrived with another 5 questions.  STOP!!!! I'm in overload already :-)  I'd been on the phone since 7 – non -stop – and my brain was just mush.  I'vve been so busy, that I didn't even have time to think about the digger on the lot creating a hole that would soon be our new home!

I wanted to send especial prayers to Beth and Soozie tonight.

Warm hugs and prayers for all of you who need a lift.  Have a wonderful Thursday

hugs

jaydee

  1. Oh, I love the depth on the ornament. What on the surface appears to be a simple card turns out to be a bit more complex. It’s wonderful!
Oh, man, that Buzbee was indeed well camouflaged! I have no idea how you managed to spot him. :shakes head: What a mischief maker!
I hope you get some much needed rest this evening. Congratulations on the ground breaking!
Hugs and prayers to those in need.

  2. Wow! What a fabulous card, Jaydee. You’re right; the bow finishes it off beautifully. The combination of the gold and pewter smooches is stunning.

Have a great day and isn’t it exciting doing the house? I know there are lots of things to do and pick and such, but it will be so worth it when you get to put your feet on the finished floors.

  4. Another stunning creation from the Queen of CAS! Jaydee, you just amaze me with the beautiful cards you make. Each one is a step above the last-I’m sooo happy you share your talents with us.
Oh Buzbee, so glad you went wreath riding yesterday, I’m afraid you’d blow away with the wind today.:)Be a good elf and be kind to Jaydee today, maybe make her a nice cuppa. She could use a bit of TLC.
Have a great day One & All!
PS-Congrats on the ground breaking Jaydee and Lou!

  5. Your card is beautiful! Thr ribbon just sent it to the next extreme!
Little Buzbee is quite active. Hope he doesn’t get into your hot chocolate tonight! Then he will really be hypper.
