Stunning Cosmos – Wonderful Day

Hi Everyone  Happy Thursday.  Where has this week gone???!!!

I have a different kind of card for you today.  I haven't used water bleaching for years and I was inspired to use it for this card one one of the lessons from the AECP Beyond Basic Backgrounds

So, remember last post when I said I didn't use purple very often?  Yep…. Guess what?   A purple card!!!

Well, strictly only a third of the card is purple :-)  However, I needed a dark background to show off the water bleaching technique, and purple was a good choice as it is a really deep rich purple and I knew it would work well.

For this card, I used Concord Crush Distress ink. I blended out the background and then sprayed water onto the flowers from the Altenew Stunning Cosmos stamp set and used those to create the background – making sure that I pressed down very hard onto the base for about 20 seconds before removing the stamp.  It was wonderful to watch the flowers gradually get lighter and lighter.

I used a piece of silver mirror card stock to mat the purple layer and added a sentiment from the set that I got with the Altenew New Day Card Kit.   I use this sentiment a lot for cards.    All that was left was to add a little glittery heart and the card was complete.

Here's a closeup of the background:

I'll be back tomorrow with another card – and I promise it isn't purple!  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Hi Jaydee! Wow, haven’t thought about this technique is ages, probably 10 years! This is a gorgeous stamp for bleaching. The silver gives it just the right amount of sparkle too. Very pretty!!

  2. Love the effect with the watercolor/wet look on distress Ink! I am so glad that you enter your beautiful work in Altenew AECP assignment Gallery. Awesome details and design! Super work!
