Hi Everyone
interim update for you with some exciting news – it's called the Color Renovation. Now, if you are anything like me, you will have in your collection colors that you don't use – or wonder why on earth SU still sells "THAT" color…. Remember my New Year resolution to try those colors that I never use? :-)
We have just learned from SU that there are changes coming in the July Idea Book and Catalog related to color. Su is calling this move a Color Renovation. We will be losing some colors – but getting some of our favorites back. I know many of you were disappointed when Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi and Tangerine Tango were retired after their stint as in colors. Well….. they are back! I know I can hear many of you applauding that decision. I certainly was!
So, here's the scoop that I can share with you for now. As soon as I can share anything else with you I will do that. I'll also be putting out a couple of word documents for you to download with the details on them.
The color families are changing to color collections.
There will be 4 color collections.
Older, less popular colors will be retiring.
The 7 most popular In-colors will be returning (unfortunately NOT Kiwi Kiss…) but I do get Red Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze and Pacific Point, so I will let that one go :-)….
New colors will be introduced to supplement the family
5 New In Colors will also be announced
There's a spectacular new color coach being announced.
There will be more embellishments than ever before.
SU will offer kits to help us fill the gaps
UPDATE:
The four collections will consist of:
Brights
Collection: Daffodil Delight, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise,
Tangerine Tango
Regals Collection: Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Elegant Eggplant, Garden Green, More Mustard, Night of Navy,
Not Quite Navy, Riding Hood Red
Subtles Collection: Baja Breeze, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Pink Pirouette,
Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi
Neutrals
Collection: Basic Black, Basic Grey, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake (formerly known as Kraft), Early Espresso, River Rock, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla,
Whisper White,
NEW COLORS: Daffodil Delight (a gorgeous shade of yellow), Early Espresso (a deep rich brown that I think we were really missing), Marina Mist (a gorgeous shade of blue that isn't too green), Cherry Cobbler (a gorgeous red that we were really missing from the collection).
Here's the new color chart – just blow it up to have a look at it.
Also, as soon as information comes out on the new kits arrive, including catch up kits to help us fill in the gaps), I'll put them on my blog
What's great about this announcement?
To be honest. A lot. Clients have been asking (or in some cases begging) for the return of some of the retired/retiring in colors. Some of the colors were really in need of a shake up. ALSO…. because there will be more storage room in the warehouse and a more concentrated color palette – WE GET EVEN MORE CHOICES ON MATCHING ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS!!!!
Additionally, SU will be offering attractively priced kits for us to easily fill in the gaps for the card stock, inks, markers, that we don't have.
What's bad about this announcement?
Well….. last night I thought. OH NO!!! I've made this huge investment and I hadn't seen the colors properly and wow, what am I going to do…… Then….I sat down with my markers and card stock that was retiring and did an analysis. Very few of them see the light of day. I've only used them because I really wanted to give them some love.
Will I miss some colors? Absolutely. Mellow Moss for one. That has become my go to green. What else? Lovely Lilac – somewhat. Ruby Red… yep… BUT… I prefer Red Riding Hood Red anyway. Taken with Teal – yep… BUT I preferred Pacific Point.
Then… that's when it hit me. My initial reaction didn't match how I really felt. I looked at some of those colors sitting on my workspace and realized that I wouldn't miss them much because color choices have moved on and I wasn't using them. AND that I loved some of the colors coming back and new ones being introduced.
SU spent two years doing research with customers and demo focus groups and in the end, I think the team came up with a spectacular set of colors. Ones that I know I will get more use out of than ever before. When I saw them altogether in a color wheel my mind started spinning (excuse the pun!) with all the new combinations I could put together. And you all know that I love doing that 🙂
If you want a list of the retiring colors in word doc format, just send me an email. I will also post any documentation as soon as I can.
If you have any questions on this change reach out to your demo – or feel free to contact me. I'd be happy to answer any questions or help in any way I can.
Hugs to you all
Jaydee

I just got all the markers last month! Looks like I messed up doing that! I wish I had waited now! I had a $1000 show and actually got them free! What do you think Jaydee? I’m kinda wondering how am I going to get all the colors now? I guess I need to go check all my inks and see which ones I have. I have all the ink groups and the in colors from this year and last year but don’t know about any others! I’m kinda in the middle of the road on this new announcement! Have to inventory first to see what I have and don’t have! LOL!
Hi Jaydee, if you don’t mind me answering Missy’s question here, then I will give it a go.
Missy, You will not need to buy a new Marker Case, you will get a new Label for the one you have. You will also get a New Label for the Pastels. I believe you are also going to be getting new Watercolor Wonder Crayon Containers. There may be more in this package but off the top of my head I do not remember right now. Customers and Demo’s alike have been begging to have these colors back for a long time now. If you sit back and look at the whole picture it is not a bad thing, and the extra Markers and Pads that you have(I would buy Re-Inkers for) just give you that much more choice in your personal cardmaking and scrapbooking.
So sorry if I stepped on your toes, Jaydee. I did it in Love. Have a wonderful day.
Cyber Hugs, Trish in Wisconsin
Hi Trish! Hope you are doing well! I appreciate you and Jaydee both answering/explaining my question! After reading Jaydee’s answer and Trish’s answer I went to my scraproom and made inventory! There will be 15 colors that I do not have! But there is a lot of the paper I do not have! I do like the older in colors from last year though! And I have used them a lot! I truly appreciate you both taking the time to help me figure out my dilemma! You both are awesome! And I am so fortunate to have you in my little cyber world! Thanks! I love ya both!!! Trish, hang in there and keep getting stronger and stronger! Always remember you have a lot of family on this site who truly care about you!
Well, I am with Missy on this new development–I just completed my ink pad collection! Actually my order was messed up and I am lacking 2. But so close! I am excited for the new colors however. I always just use whatever I have because I am not a demonstrator, so I can do that! Thanks for keeping us updated Jaydee and Trish.
Such interesting news. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I’m still new so I don’t have many colors (even though I did just get all of Bold Brights). I like how SU listens to its customers and I’ll be interested to see the “new” colors.
Uh oh, now I’m sad. I just saw what colors are leaving and that’s 9 of the colors that I JUST bought. I will then only have two colors that will go with anything. Sigh.
I for one am excited about the changes. We all resist change to some degree, but the colors new colors look fabulous and I am thrilled by the new colors and return of some favorites. Remember that as a customer, you can still enjoy all of your fabulous SU colors through the years (remember Forest Folliage, anyone?), stock up on the cardstock that you like and plan to use. It is just those of us who are demonstrators who won’t be using them anymore professionally. We don’t want to frustrate our customers by showing them something that they can’t have.
Trish, it’s so good to see you posting and keeping up with things. I hope this means you are gaining some strength back.
Jaydee, what time did you go to bed last night. If I need to, I’m willing to be the mom and come over to tell these work people that you need some sleep!
Kelli, try not to be sad. I was overnight, but when I saw the new colors and how great the colors were that I had just bought (that were retiring :-)) would work with the new color collections, I realized that I could get even more use out of the colors that I had just bought.
So… you will still get to use them and love them. I’m NOT… no.. NOT… giving up Brilliant Blue or Mellow Moss. Mind you… I said that about Kiwi Kiss last year and haven’t used it once! 🙂
I promise you, you will get lots of use out of the goodies you just bought
Hugs
Jaydee
