Sugarplums for Paper Players #460

Hi Everyone.

Happy Sunday.  It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great theme for us:

I don't often make cards that aren't the usual A2, so it was fun finding elements to fit a taller and thinner card.  I created my card using a stamp set that I had never inked up.  In fact, I can't even remember where I got it, especially as it isn't my usual type of purchase :-)  However, I am a sucker for nutcrackers!  So I inked up the nutcracker and colored him – and he was what dictated the height and width of my card.   In the end I went with a 6 x 4 card.

For the vertical element, I added a strip of red DSP from the SU set called "See a Silhouette".  I die-cut the focal element using my favorite stitched rectangle dies.  Still haven't found my round dies!!!

Here's my card:

Nutcracker (1 of 1)

I hope you will join us and play along with Claire's challenge.  We can't wait to see your tall and skinny cards!  As always, the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

I'm going to get some me time in my craft room today!  I need to catch up on my Paper Player and Addicted to CAS challenge cards and hopefully will get the time to play along with a couple of challenges.  So, I should hopefully be back later in the week with some cards to share.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I’m like you Jaydee, I don’t usually stray from the standard sized card and actually used the same measurement. It really does make the card taller and skinnier! Nutcrackers are my favorite and as soon as I saw your card it made me smile. He’s perfect for this challenge. Have a fun day stamping! Big hugs!

  2. He’s quite dapper, Jaydee! He will certainly bring a smile to someone’s face this Christmas! Good choice for your tall and thin card!

  3. I can’t resist a nutcracker either Jaydee – and yours is looking very festive in his red uniform! This image is so perfect for a tall and skinny card – the card shape really emphasises the height of your nutcracker. Gorgeous! You are remarkably calm about those missing circle dies – I would be wearing a black armband by now!! Have a wonderful and crafty week!

  4. What a cute nutcracker image! I LOVE the sentiment which you used. The red paper behind the image is the perfect choice! I hope you had fun with your “me” stampin’ time!

  5. I must say, I love a nutcracker too! Yours looks lovely with his festive red uniform. I do hope those circle dies turn up soon!

  6. Jaydee, this nutcracker makes me smile! He is just perfect for your tall and skinny card. I love all the red and your coloring is perfect! It is fun to step outside the box sometimes! I am so sorry you can’t find your circle dies. I hope you didn’t throw them away. I have been known to do that. UGGGG You certainly made my challenge shine this week! Enjoy the upcoming weekend, My Friend! XX
