Sweet Awash with Flowers – and Happy Birthday, Pammie

Hi Everyone.

Happy Thursday!

A change of pace for you today…. yep…. no new sets!  No… seriously!  I am going back to one of my favorite "old" sets.

This card is actually a CASE of a card that was in the Stampin' Up! demonstrator only magazine last month.  I loved the look and feel of the card and decided that CASEing it – and a couple of others – would – hopefully – awaken my creative streak.  The only thing that I changed about the card was the sentiment.  I didn't have the sentiment set that they showcased on the original card, so substituted it.  I love the color combo, the fact that I could get out my blending pen and classic inks, some Iridescent Ice embossing powder – and that it used a set that I fell in love with a year ago when it first made its appearance.

Card recipe – all ingredients Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:

  • Card stock: Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride
  • Stamps:  Awash with Flowers.  Sentiment: Papertrey
  • Inks:  Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride
  • Accessories:  Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Subtles buttons, linen thread
  • Tools:  Paper Piercer, Mini glue dots; Stampin' Dimensionals, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Big Shot

So, what do you think?  I think it's really pretty.  I have never put these colors together, but I think they work really well together.  I don't know about you, but I love the idea of adding two of the floral images together to make a "whole" flower.  The yellow buttons work so well for the middle of the flower, too.

On a personal note:

A very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my best friend, Pammie.  I hope you had a wonderful day, my friend.  Even though I couldn't be with you in person, I was certainly there in spirit!

Work has been really, really busy.  There never seem to be enough hours in the day.  I'm also at the point where I think I am ready for a long weekend!!!!  Many of my friends and family have a long weekend this weekend.  At least four, and in some cases, five days off!  In fact, the UK has a short week next week.  They have a four day weekend this weekend and then next Friday is THE wedding!  Needless to say, I shall be setting my alarm early next Friday and will take the time to get up, make some tea, take out my Union Jack, and wave as the wedding unfolds on television.  Anyone else nutty enough to get up early to watch?

Prayers tonight for those of you who need a warm hug, or a little lift.  I hope you all have a fabulous Easter weekend.  For my Jewish readers – Happy Passover.  I hope we are all blessed with warmth, love and peace.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Jaydee, I loved this in SS and I love your version even more! I have had a tough time warming up to that set but I’m with you…piecing the flower together makes ALL the difference. I hope you get some time to relax and unwind this Easter weekend. Sending big hugs your way!
PS: I will be watching the wedding festivities, too! 🙂

  2. Oh my gosh…my workshop ladies made this tonight. I was going to photograph it tomorrow and put it on my blog. I used the sentiment, “Thinking of You” and used pearls instead of buttons. Great minds…

  3. Might have to case this awesome idea for one of my clubs! Love it and all that glitter is fabulous!!! And like you and AM…I will be wedding watching too!!!

  4. Wonderful card Jaydee, love the colour combination as well. I will be watching the Royal Wedding also, but it will be evening time for me! We have a 5 day weekend here due to ANZAC day falling on Easter Monday. Happy Easter everyone!

  5. Happy birthday, Pammie!
The colors on that card are fantastic! I love how you are not afraid of cutting and snipping (like someone I know…;oP) as it really does make this card. I really like the effect of the iridescent ice on the flowers, and your coloring is fabulous.
The Royal Wedding? You betcha I’m watching. I can’t even begin to explain why, but I’m utterly ENCHANTED by Kate and Wills. They make my romantic heart sigh with happiness–I truly believe they are in love, which is as it should be. :o)
Wishing everyone a wonderful Friday and Happy Easter!
    Hugs!

  6. Lovely card. I will be watching the wedding too. My mother let me stay home from school to watch Queen Elizabeth’s coranation when I was a little girl and I watched Dianna’s wedding and funeral. I love England and wish I could go back to visit. Such a beautiful country.

  7. This is so pretty! I have to be honest – I have trouble using this set….you make it look easy and beautiful! And I will be watching the wedding for sure but I may be setting the DVR!
