Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday!
I am SO late with my Paper Players card this week. Lou and I went out of the house yesterday at 8.30am and got back at 7:00pm. Consequently, I didn't get to make my card yesterday and it has taken me forever to get a card made this morning. I putzed and pfaffed with this card and you wouldn't believe how long it took me. I just couldn't come up with an idea. I really don't like Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry…. I was so happy when they retired the first time around, and was arrrrrgh when they came back this year. So…. I just didn't know what to do with these colors. Don't get me wrong, Nance came up with a great color scheme…. it's just me!

I really couldn't work out what to do, then remembered there was a great sketch as part of the week 1 classes at summer card camp.
Here's the sketch:
I decided that I would use the sketch, which led me to my stamp choice of – Tape It. Here's my card:
I stamped three of the Tape It images onto sticky backed vellum in Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Baked Brown Sugar. I dried them with my heat gun and then cut them out with scissors. I placed them down onto a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it to size. I then stamped the Birthday Greetings from Wetlands onto a piece of Baked Brown Sugar using Early Espresso and punched it out with my 13/4" circle punch.
I ran a piece of Baked Brown Sugar through my Big Shot with my new Sytlish Stripes embossing folder and glued that onto my card base. I then glued the Tape It layer to the base card. I thought that the sentiment needed a little something and, as I was still trying to go for a masculine card, I decided I couldn't add something like a butterfly :-) Then… I had a brain wave, and remembered my new Chalk Pen that arrived with my new goodies from the Holiday Catalog. Ah. Ha. I used that to create little stitch marks around the circle and that really helped it pop. I then popped it up on stampin dimensionals.
Now…. you can see from the other design team member cards that they really rocked the color scheme…. You can check out their fabulous creations on their blogs below and then don't forget to play along with us this week. We'd love to see what YOU do with this color challenge.
On a personal note:
Ah…. our prairie flowers are looking fabulous. The Black Eyed Susans are really coming into their own. Along with the yarrow and pock weed. Take a look at this!
Looking at the other side of the gazebo…
I also had to show you a photo of one of the plants the landscaper put in beside the house….. It's the most amazing orange echinacea. I absolutely love the shades of orange/pink in the flowers
I was on my way back into the house after photographing the card and saw this tiny little guy hopping on the patio
he really is MINUTE!
Then, I couldn't help but take a photo of the magnificent Bailey waiting behind the fly screen for me… He really is 17# of purring gorgeousness.
As always, thank you for stopping by my little neck of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits and your comments are much appreciated. Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.
Hugs
Jaydee

Love this, Jaydee! That Tape It set is STILL on my wish list…..getting closer to the top after seeing this!
For a color challenge you struggled with, the card looks wonderful. :o) I happen to like Bermuda Bay and was happy they brought it back. Now Crushed Curry on the other hand…Meh.
I’m anxiously awaiting my latest SU! order–set to arrive tomorrow(!!) including a Big Shot (I’m late to the party, what can I say?)–and the Tape It stamp set.
Your flowers are wonderful! :o) I know it’s slow going waiting for flowers to be established, but once they are, it’s just beautiful.
Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou, I hope your cat bite is all better!
So where is the picture of Bailey? As always you did great with making your card even though you didn’t care for the colors. Your wetlands are coming to life. I’m surprised since they were just planted. You sure had a long day yesterday. You must be have your energy back. Take care and have a good week.
Jaydee, this is great! I love how you toned down the bright colors and highlighted your sentiment with the chalk pen. Fabulous!
Your black eyed Susan’s and purple coneflower are delightful! Just wait until next year when they gain some height and explode with color! The butterflies will be plentiful then too.
Pretty card. I just can’t get excited about this washi tape faze. Your cornflowers are beautiful and remind me of the SU stamp. Try to duplicate that color! Your blackeyed susans are lovely in that part of your yard. Thanks for sharing.
Love all the pictures of your flowers. I have the black eyed Susan’s too. I think they are my favorite. And I laughed out loud at the fly screen comment. Must be what they are called in the UK. And a very appropriate name it is! Can you tell me what the difference between the chalk pen and the white gel pen? I received the chalk pen also but haven’t even opened it up yet.
I see the picture of Bailey now. For some reason when I looked yesterday it wasn’t there. He is so sweet looking. Love all the hair. How’s Lou thumb doing?
your card looks wonderful despite your struggle.
Enjoyed seeing the rest of your pictures as well.

I’m sorry the colors gave you grief! You’ve really made a fabulous card with them. so clever to use the Tape It set. Love the striped background and your use of the chalk pen is genius! Thanks for making my colors look so good! ((hugs))
Great card! Love the simplicity. Very Sharp and smart design. Just love it!
Well, I think you rocked the colors! They really pop on the clean background. But, I have to say that Bailey steals the show here! How can you not love a big, beautiful kitty? (Especially those orange kitties! *wink, wink*) Big hugs!
