Tart and Tangy – Strawberry Valentine

Hi Everyone

very quick post for you tonight.  But before we get started, I'd like you to put Trish on your prayer list tonight.  Trish is one of our fellow crafters and a frequent commenter on my site.  Trish is going in for major surgery tomorrow and I'd like you to put her on your prayer list for a safe surgery and fast recovery.  Hurry back Trish – we miss you!

Tonight's card uses the Tart and Tangy (111514) set and one of the heart stamps from the I {Heart} Hearts set.  The Tart and Tangy is one of the sets that I got free with my Sale-A-Bration order.  Again, it was one of those sets that I hadn't considered – and can't imagine why I didn't!  The fact that it was free… well, makes it even more fun.  Want to know what you can get for free as part of your SAB order?  contact your helpful SU Demo, check out this link or send me an email and I will get a brochure into the mail for you.  And don't forget, if you want to add the Tart and Tangy to your SAB order as a free product – it has a different product number – 120237.  Don't forget that for every purchase of I {Heart} Hearts set goes towards helping the people of Haiti.  (More details here.)  The sentiment is from the Messages from Mom set (117016 wood mount, 118580 clear mount)

Tartandtangy

This card falls into the "fall to layouts" – you have seen me use this layout before on multiple cards – and I still love it. In fact, you will see another one of my Just Buzzin By cards later this week made with the same layout.  Don't those strawberries look juicy and luscious!

Card recipe:

  • Whisper White and Real Red card stock
  • Tart and Tangy, Messages for Mom and I {Heart} Heart stamp sets
  • Scallop square punch – to punch out the Real Red matts
  • Real Red ink for the hearts, strawberries and sentiment.  The leaves of the strawberries was inked in Old Olive.  (I inked the stamp with my markers)
  • Red and White gingham ribbon
  • Once I had stamped the strawberries, I used my Crystal Effects over the top of the stamped strawberry image.  Takes a while to dry – but looks luscious.

  2. Hooray–I have the tart and tangy set! I love the way the strawberries look-wish I had some fresh ones now. The only thing fresh in Ohio this morning is new snow!
    I will pray for Trish-hopefully she will be back stamping real soon!

    First of all, I will keep Trish in my thoughts & prayers! Second, I have had this stamp set for a long time but never thought of using it in the way you did! You never cease to amaze me! It makes me want to go in my craft room & get that stamp set out right now! Thanks for doing something with an older stamp set! An oldie but goodie!

  4. I LOVE the sentiment…I tend to lean more towards sentiments and I need to expand my images. I love this card and how the one strawberry is on its side…very creative.

  5. Such a cute idea using the strawberry! I may have to use my Tart n Tangy set to make a Valentine. I think I will make the strawberry so it looks like it is dipped in choclolate! Thanks so much for the inspirations & great ideas you have to share. Beth

  9. After viewing your card with the Tart and Tangy set, I, too, have wondered why I did not get this set earlier. I have always considered buying it, but never did. Now I am definitely going to complete my SAB order and get it free!!! Your card is beautiful and the strawberries look good enough to eat…
