Thank my lucky stars for Addicted to CAS

 Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

It's the talented Marie's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has a fabulous code word for us.

Vellum is a really useful tool for card makers and something that I use often to soften background DSP, jiust as I have with this card.

I needed a thank you card for the most special person in my life.  Someone who did something today that I could never have done, but for which I am most thankful.  My darling hubby.

I had this stars DSP in my stash, but it was much too bright, so I used some heavy weight vellum over the top of it to really soften it.  I then die cut a tag and stamped the Hero Arts Year Round sentiment on that.

How to adhere vellum is always problematic.  You can get specific vellum adhesive, but I did it differently for this card as I needed some distance between my tag and my base.

To adhere the vellum over the DSP, I cut a piece of vellum 1/2" longer and wider than my DSP and folded over the edges.  I then used strong adhesive on the back of the DSP layer to adhere the folded vellum to the DSP.

I was left with what to do with the vellum tag.  I learned a trick from Jennifer McGuire to use thin strips of clear foam adhesive – you can see it here.  You place the thin strips of the foam tape behind key components (the stars, the larger words) and it helps to hide the tape, as well as give it lift.  It's not completely hidden, but you do have to look a little harder to see it, and I love that it gives dimension to the tag.

 Here's my card:

We hope that you will join us this week and once again, our fabulous sponsor has 3 great digis for the winner of our challenge.  Click the image below and you can check out the wonderful digis available for purchase.

The design team have created some fabulous cards for your inspiration, as has our guest designer for October, the very talented Hannelie.

I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players card.   In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
