Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday.
This is going to be a quick post. It's nearly 7 and Bailey is becoming increasingly vocal because he wants his dinner!
Tonight's cards both use the Walk in the Wild set. Both of them are fabuous and I know you will get some inspiration for your future masculine cards.
Let's take a look at a card that was part of my general swaps. The first one is from Alexa TreDenick. I couldn't find a blog for Alexa, so I don't have a link for you!
I loved the colors that Alexa used. Early Espresso and Always Artichoke and I love that she cut the cardstock at a 45 degree angle. The Always Artichoke sponging around the grasses really helps to ground the moose and echoes the Always Artichoke layer. Very masculine and very clean and simple.
The next card by Denise Lewandowski. I couldn't find a blog for Denise either. She may be on facebook, but… because I don't facebook (I know I must be the only person in the world, right! 🙂 ) I couldn't check if she was there or not!
Anyway, I swapped with Denise as part of the Top Notch swap and certainly wasn't disappointed!
I love the Early Espresso with Naturals Ivory. The Argyle embossing folder is perfect and there is two layers of ribbon – the 7/16" trim and the 1/4 Early Espresso Stitched Grosgrain. Even though there is ribbon on this card, it still passes the "Lou" masculine card test. He approved :-) I also love that she kept to the two colors and didn't deviate from that at all. Fabulous card!
Rach: to answer your question about swapping. Yep. You decide which card you are going to make and how many and then go into production line! The tape it card on this post took me 3 hours to design and then about 40 minutes per card. The reason it took so much time is that each of the "tape it" layers was stamped twice and positioned with my stamp-a-ma-jig. Then the embossed layer, then the punched and highlighted butterflies, then the chalk pen stitching and the stamp-a-ma-jgged sentiment….. it took much longer than thought it would to make this card. In the end I only made 40 to swap. I couldn't get any more finished. The good thing is that I got 40 different cards for OWH! 🙂
Doris, Cindy, Marcia, Rach and Jeanne: thank you for signing up to participate in the OWH card drive. I REALLY appreciate it.
For the rest of you, remember you still have time to let me know whether you will be able to help brighten the day of a service-person and their families! I'll be making the closing date around September 7. So you have plenty of time to make some cards, or turn those card fronts that you got from convention into cards! I'll have a post dedicated to the drive on Sunday!
Linda: so pleased my photos brought back a memory of your childhood!
Marina: you asked what CAS stands for…. It means Clean and Simple. It's a card that has restricted layers and embellishments and isn't over the top. You could certainly classify most of the cards that I make as Clean and Simple. However, we should never confuse "simple" for lacking in detail or quick and easy to make :-) I find that CAS can often be more difficult to make as there is no room for error in execution. When I think of CAS I think of Coco Chanel's accessory advice….. Before you go out of the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory! It's great advice for all of us, but with CAS, I say, look at it and remove multiple accessories 🙂
Beth/Jeanne: nature is wonderful. I am always amazed by what Mother Nature provides for us. I know I've said it before and I'll say it again.. you guys have no idea how lucky you are that you are often so close to nature in the US. I've lived on 4 continents and never had this diversity of flora, fauna and avifauna on my doorstep! Even in our house, when we were truly in the middle of suburbia, it was amazing what we managed to attract.
Colleen, glad to hear that you guys call them bluebells, too! I hope you are staying cool!
As always, thank you for visiting my blog. I REALLY do appreciate your visits and your comments.
Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Have a beautiful Friday
Hugs
Jaydee

Ah, good to know I had it right. Given the name, I figured it had to be that…:o) And, just to let you know, I’m not on FB either. I’m much much happier that way. :oP
These are delightful cards and I concur with Lou, even with the ribbon, the bottom one is masculine.
So, speaking of wonderful nature, I spent the day sitting in my stamping space watching the hummers duke it out over the feeders–silly birds! I have two male and three female ruby throated hummingbirds and they are SO territorial! They make me chuckle, watching them zoom around trying to intimidate one another. They also spent quite a bit of time visiting the flowers around the yard.
Then, this evening, I spotted my goldfinch couple clinging to my Mexican sunflowers, eating the seeds out of the spent ones. I’ve never seen such a thing and was beyond chuffed! :o)
Hoping all is well up your way! We had a gorgeous cool (only about 80), relatively low-humidity day. It was grand. :o)
hugs!
P.S. Hiya Lou! :o)
Both cards are great and has that great masculine feel to them. First one really has that woodsie feel to it.
Oh, by the way; I also don’t do facebook, don’t tweet, etc. Many times I don’t even answer my home phone. I let the machine take care of it. I figure if it’s important enough then they can leave a message.
Jaydee; trying to stay cool but when heat index is 105 it sure isn’t easy. Will be so glad when fall comes around.
Have a great day, a fantastic evening along with an enjoyable weekend.

Jaydee:
Thanks so much for your so explanatory response. My husband would say it’s better to keep a “low profile” or “it’s better to under do it”. Did not know what Coco used to say but in my opinion it’s very clever.
Each time I see the day’s card I profit to study some of the old ones which appear in the lower part. I have also seen your coloring with classic inks and blender pens video which I enjoyed so much. We are travelling to Peru (my home country) and will profit to take some classes on coloring with my nephew who is a painter . . . wish me luck!!
By the way, you may have discovered by now that we are quite a bunch not joining Facebook — ha!ha!ha!
Much love,
Marina . . . from far Africa
What great guy cards! I also love the setting in which you took the pictures. The sky and trees are the perfect backdrop!
Have a good weekend!
Oh, these cards and their colors are so comfortable to me. It’s been in the 60’s & 70’s here — very unusual. Our hummingbirds have always had one male and his harem of about 3 to 5 females. I have never been on Facebook either. Do you see a trend in your followers, Jaydee? How is it that we never tire of watching Nature and her creations, even though they do they same things over and over? (Retorical ?) Our birds and other critters have fascinated me for 30 years now. I am a former city girl! Hope you and Lou are well! Nancy B
I know where to come for inspiration and understanding! I thought I was a Neanderthal for not being a Facebook member. haha! I don’t feel like I am missing anything, tho. Thanks for sharing your pretty cards and pix of wetland visitors. Hugs back.
