Warm Wollen Mittens

Hi Everyone.  Bet you can all hear Maria singing… these are a few of my favorite things now :-)  Sorry to give you all an ear worm, but it is the perfect title for tonight's card.

Splitcoast had a challenge to use felt on a card.  Mmm… I don't have much with felt, but remembered that I had the little mittens from the holiday mini "Winter Wishes" stitched felt embellishments.  Perfect.  Next question?  What to pair them with.  Mmmm.. Well, what goes better with mittens than flannel!  Ah ha!

I pulled out the Frostwood Lodge DSP.  Next came the Snow Burst embossing folder, run through my Big Shot and then covered in Versamark and sprinkled with clear embossing powder.  Now the snowflakes looked like a frozen winter wonderland.  Now… what sentiment?  Mmm… ah… yes… Snow Much Fun has the perfect sentiment.  I have to tell you that this entire card came together in 45 minutes and that included working out the layout.  Now… I can NEVER normally do that.  There's something about these 45 minute challenges that really forces me to think quickly.   My next card?  Two hours.  Yep!  Two hours!

Here's what I came up with

Feltmittens

I had to add just a little bling on the sentiment.  Basic Rhinestones were the perfect thing!  You will notice that I added a third to act as the "hook" for the mittens.

So, what do you think?  Looks like warm cozy woollen mittens and flannel sheeting?  I thought it did.  Can you see the shimmer on the snowburst?  Doesn't it remind you of the freshly fallen snow when we have had an ice storm?

On a personal note:

Talking about snow… are we ever going to get any?  None in the forecast for the next 10 days… oh… maybe a chance where a slight chance of rain will turn over to a little snow.  It's almost the end of November and we haven't had snow yet.  What is up with that?  Seriously?  I REALLY look forward to the first snow of the season and am getting impatient.  I can't put out my Christmas decorations after Thanksgiving unless there is some snow to put me in the mood!

Rach, glad to hear that your temperatures have dropped.  We have had to give in and put on the fires to warm the house.

I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday, filled with joy and laughter!  Warm hugs and prayers to those who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Beautiful, Jaydee! Love the red and white and those felt mittens are just adorable!
Sorry to hear that you haven’t had any snow yet. I’ve had enough already and am ready for spring even though winter isn’t here yet. That snowstorm in October was more than enough for me. LOL

  2. Oh, I love this card! I haven’t been a huge fan of the Frostwood DSP, but this is a big hit. (maybe I’m subconsciously liking the ‘Canadian’ colours). It’s such a bright, happy card.
Thinking of mittens, I needed mine tonight, ’cause we got SNOW! It plays heck with traffic, but it’s one of those light, fluffy snows, and it’s sooooo pretty! Maybe it will find its way down to you.

  3. Hi Jaydee! I love your mitten card, so cozy and warm. You just needed a mug of hot cocoa next to it in the picture. lol!
I just took the time to go back and listen to your poem and lovely music for you friend. That was so sweet. I enjoyed the poem and beautiful landscapes Jaydee. I’ll pray for your friends and their loss. It is so hard losing a parent.

  4. It’s wintery perfection! Oh what a fun fun fun card! I SO want to CASE this. The snow burst embossing sets contrast beautifully with the implied warmth of those woolen mittens (drat you, Jaydee! That’ll be going through my head ALL DAY now!).
Snow? What’s that? We’ll be lucky to see that by the end of December. I do so long for some, though. I remember when I was little, if it hadn’t snowed by my birthday (Thanksgiving Day this year!), it was an off year. Of course, I was living somewhere a bit higher in elevation then.
It’s currently 58 degrees in my living room and we’re all bundled up tight. I think the fire may be in order…brrr!
    Hugs!

  5. I personally prefer raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…much warmer cuddlier things:) This card is so much fun Jaydee, it makes me smile and like Rach I’ll be singing for the rest of the day! I also agree with Linda, I’ve never felt drawn to the Frostwood Lodge DSP but now when I see it like this…oh you enabler you!
Have a great day One and All and good luck with the snow Jaydee–I can wait until after Thanksgiving and after my children have traveled back to school.

  6. Love your card, but careful what you wish for! Hee, hee. I love snow too and it is beautiful today! Now to find my mittens…but staying in today and crafting. Hugs.
