Whale of a Time for Freshly Made Sketches #696

Happy Friday.

I have a quick post for you today featuring a stamp and stencils that I got as a freebie from the Scrapbook.com Creative Kindness drive.  I saw this great sketch across at Freshly Made Sketches and immediately knew what I wanted to do with it.  Here's a sneak peek:

And here's the sketch from FMS:

I began by cutting a piece of card stock to 2 5/8 x 3 3/4.  I took out the mountain stencil and created that image first.  I then took the treeline stencil and added that below the mountains.  I then blended the bottom of the piece with two different colors of blue ink and splattered some watercolor silver paint over the sea to give it a little irridescence.  I stamped the whale tail that came with the stamp set and watercolored it.  I then fussy cut it, cut a space in the "sea" and slid the whale tail into that and secured it.

I cut a piece of Navy cardstock for the vertical panel.  I stamped the sentiment and then mounted the panel onto the vertical panel with a couple of extra layers of cardstock.  I then popped up the focal panel onto a base with some foam tape.  The base was embossed using the Waffle Flower Happy Waves Texture Plate.

Here's my full card:

I love these stencils and immediately I saw them I wanted to make a card that reminded me of the Pacific Northwest and our recent visit to British Columbia.  The whale tail was the perfect stamp for this image!

I wish I could have gotten a decent photo of the glimmer and shine from the metallic watercolor splatters, but I just couldn't capture it!  I know the fabulous design team at Freshly Made would love it if you played along!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.

In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
