Whimsical Poppies for Paper Players #424

Hi Everyone.   Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Anne Marie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's color week!

This color scheme is as bright and cheerful as AM herself and the colors were a great combo to use in the depth of winter in Minnesota!

While I was cleaning out my crafting space, I discovered a stamp that I bought years ago at a crafting fair in Minneapolis.  It's. Rubbernecker Stamp and I can't find it on their webpage anymore.  BUT… I love it and decided it was a keeper.

For my color of choice – I went with black.  I decided to do something different and focus on the black and make the colors secondary to the black.  The whimsical feel of the flowers deserved to be center stage.   I used the Rubbernecker Freehand Border stamp to create … well… a border 🙂 … around the card.

Here's a closeup of the colors, so that you can see I really did use them 🙂

I love that Freeehand Border stamp and think it fits really well with the flowers.   I hope you will join us and play along this week.  As always, if you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than the fabulous cards of our amazing design team:

On a personal note:

I didn't get much chance to craft this past week, but am hoping to get into my craft room tomorrow.  It's going to be another cold day – although the big storm coming through from Colorado will miss us.  Luckily!   Hopefully, I will have more cards to share with you this week.

I'd also like to give a shout out – and a thank you – to the teams at Watercooler Wednesday and Freshly Made Sketches for choosing my coffee card as a top pick.  It's always wonderful when a card gets chosen and meant even more to me as I have made so few cards these past few months, and really haven't felt inspired.  The challenge and sketch really did inspire me to make a card and got me back into a groove!

My friends sent me a message saying that it had arrived and that they loved it.  It's always nice when you send a card and someone lets you know that it was received 🙂

I'll be back with another card tomorrow – oh… and some blog candy!   In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Jaydee, this border frame is fabulous and those flowers are just perfect! Such a fun, whimsical card. It makes me smile! I love your coffee card, too! Congratulations on the wins! I know that made you happy! I hope you have a lovely week! XXX

  2. Clean and simple perfection, Jaydee! I love the border. I also love the way you made black your focal color, and used the other colors as secondary colors! Such a day brightener!

  3. What a beautiful CAS card Jaydee! All of that white truly allows you to focus on each of the colours used. Such a pretty stamp and a great border; I love that there are stamps for that kind of thing, I’m not sure my free hand would look anywhere near as artistic!!

  4. Love the simplicity of this card and allowing just the hint of colors. Love the easy flowing, loose style but cannot duplicate it myself. I have a tendency to overwork a card the more I try to keep it light and airy and it ends up in the round file while I start over.

  5. I love everything about this Jaydee! Those flowers with the pop of color and that fun border. What a fabulous find in tour craft room! I love when that happens. This is clean, whimsical and just fun! So glad you enjoyed the colors this week, my friend. Hugs!
