Sweetest Peas for Paper Players #428

Hi Everyone.

It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color challenge for us:

I started with a Smoky Slate base and stamped flowers from Altenew's Sweetest Peas with the darkest grey.  I then colored the flowers with a few different pink pencils that are as close to Melon Mambo as I could get.  I added the slightest touch of yellow to the base of the flowers, but the photographs are showing much more yellow/orange than there really is!

Here's my card:

Sweetest Peas (1 of 1)
I hope you will join us and play along.   The design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

OK.  It's snowing.  AGAIN!  We are expecting another 3-5 inches today and then more on Tuesday.  Oh… and it's still cold!  I'm hoping to get into my craft room today.  If I do, then I will be back in the week to share the cards and some more photos.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Jaydee, Your sweet peas are gorgeous! The stems look so pretty in Smoky Slate, and the “sweet” sentiment is perfect with your flowers!

  2. Thanks, Su. There really is something about the pink and grey color scheme. It’s rare that I use anything other than white for the base, so it was good to do something different 🙂

  3. Jaydee I love the soft pencil colouring and the contrast with the almost art deco-style block lettering. I can almost smell the scent of those sweet peas – a beautiful CAS card!

  4. Jaydee, this is just stunning! I love the sweet peas! Your coloring is just gorgeous! I should try to use pencils more often. Thanks for the inspiration! Stay warm, My Friend! XX

  5. Beautiful card. I’m not a “pink” person and avoid it as much as possible. However, pairing it with grey really changes it up. I like the overall softness but still bright and cheery. Thanks for a great example in a color combo I would never have tried on my own.

  6. Absolutely gorgeous Jaydee! I just love the soft lines of the image and your watercoloring is beautifully done, as always. I hope you are getting a little reprieve from the snow. Hugs!
