Oh… I know……

Hi everyone….

I know you must be tired of seeing this set by now….. but I just can't seem to get enough of it!

Wetlands is really turning into my favorite set from the 2013/2014 catalog.   Not just because we live on a Wetland, but because I love the images so much and believe they are perfect for a masculine – or feminine card.

You've seen multiple masculine versions.   For a quick reminder, you can click here and I decided to try a clean lined more feminine version.

I paired the Tape It set and Naturals White and Smoky Slate card stock.   I really like those two colors paired together as the Naturals White has a grey tone to it.

I stamped the "tape it" patterns onto sticky backed vellum.  It's such an easy way to get a real washi tape look and feel.   Just remember to let the ink dry before you use it, as it does tend to smear.

Here's my card:

Wetlandstapeit (1 of 1)-2

As the color scheme is more grey, I decided to color the Canadian goose with a little more grey rather than the rich browns.   I stamped the grasses in Sahara Sand at the edges of sentiment banner and the fish tailed both of the ends.

Marina – you asked how I do my fish tails.    I measure the width of the banner and then take a pencil and mark the middle of width of the banner a little in from the end.   I then cut from the left hand corner to the pencil mark in the middle and do the same from the right side.  The depth of the fish tail really depends on the width of the sentiment.  The wider the sentiment, the smaller the tail, is my preference.   If I am cutting multiple tails – like I did for this card, I put the layers together and cut them all at once.

I really love the soft look and feel of the card and the monochromatic color scheme is soothing.  It makes a great thank  you card, but could easily work for multiple occasions.

All I need to finish off the card was a couple of the Neutrals Candy Dots.   I love these things!   I love that they go through the post and I love that they are MUCH easier than brads!

Sally – you asked me the difference between the Uniball marker and the Chalk Pen that I used on this card.   There are a couple of differences….

  • The chalk marker has a soft tip and is REALLY easy to use
  • It creates a softer, fainter line than the uniball marker
  • It works EVERY time
  • It hasn't yet gummed up on me
  • Unlike my uniball marker, which seems to gum up everytime I want to use it 🙂 grrrrr
  • I love the Chalk Marker and will definitely continue to use it

On a personal note:

Hot and humid here…. like much of the country.   I must admit, temps in the 90s aren't my favorite.  I tend to be a wilting flower in weather like this!    I hope you are all staying cool and that your airconditioning is working!

The native plants are loving this weather though and our seeds are starting to germinate in the wetland area.   All they needed was a little rain and some hot, humid weather!   The black eyed susans are looking fabulous and other plants are starting to make an appearance.   It really is so rewarding.

It's been a frantic couple of days here and I haven't had chance to get into my stamping space to make cards.  I do have a couple left to show you though… so I will be back on Friday night with another card and some updates to our garden.

As always, thank you for visiting my little neck of the woods.   Your visits and your comments really do mean a great deal to me.

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

  1. Wonderful card Jaydee and can see why you like the Wetlands set so much as it’s a great stamp set; something that can be used over and over again.
Have a great and wonderful day

  2. I missed your post these last days. Thanks so much for the advise Jaydee.
I enjoy reading about your garden . . . mine is full of hortensias, daisies, agapanthus and lavanda. I enjoy so much working in the garden . . . once I start, it is very difficult to stop . . . two days ago I spent almost five hours watering, removing weeds, cutting dried flowers, etc. Nature is beautiful!
    May God bless you!

  3. I LOVE this card! The soft neutrals/grey palette is fabulous, and who knew “Tape It” could be so versatile? The card has such a soft, dreamy feel to it. Wow! :o)
Hot and humid? Check and check. The hair. Oy, the hair…:sigh:
Off to get ready for the day!
    Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou! I hope your finger is all healed!

  4. Such a classy card, love the colors. I am not a fan of washi tape but this is so subtle that it is striking. And that is exactly how I do my fish tails. So easy. It is hot here in VA also, 96 yesterday.

  5. Hi Jaydee! Your card is soft and dreamy with this smoky slate color. I really love how you’ve used the tape it set too. The fact that you can ink up any color to match your card and use with the vellum to have the perfect look is fabulous. To make my banners, I like to use my square punch. Just pop in the corner and it’s quick and easy. I’ve read some are using their hexagon punch in the same manner. Looking forward to seeing your post on Friday. Stay cool!

  6. Great card and I love the details that you added to make it a Jaydee Card! Your cards always look so good but not over the top with fancy, unmailable “stuff” on them! Clean and simple and classy-that’s your signature card!
I too am finding smoky slate to be a wonderful color! Almost every color goes with it!
Keep up the good and inspiring work!

  7. Very Pretty! I do like this set myself, in fact, it was the first stamp set I chose to order. I think it is a great summer and fall stamp set. You can keep them coming!

  8. Your cards influenced me so much of the beauty contained in the Wetlands set that I just had to order it. I do not tire of seeing the varied designs you make with it. The set is so in tune with nature even Mother Earth would love your cards! Smoky Slate is a wonderful gray. I have used it with the Elegant Bird (rt) die. Gorgeous! The heat and humidity are heavy here in the Ohio Valley of Cincinnati. Oy, thank goodness for AC! I don’t know if your weather is this bad, Marina, but just thinking about weeding now is wiping me out! Take care of yourself, Jaydee. I hope you are feeling like yourself again. Be careful, Lou. We wouldn’t want your house painting in jeopardy…
