I am Siamese if you please

Hi Everyone.  Happy Friday.

Hope you are all having a great week and staying cool!   It's been 100 degrees in my neck of the woods – and humid.   Me…. I can honestly say that I am tired of the heat.   I really am a cold temps girl 🙂

When I saw the Giggle Greetings set in the new catty, I fell in love with it.  Of course, you know that I had to fall in love with the cat and the hairball image.

When I was creating this particular version of the card, I had the Disney Song "Siamese Cat Song" going around in my head.    Lady and the Tramp was my first introduction to Siamese cats and I later grew up to own and breed them.   They are fabulous cats; talkative, smart, independent, very loyal….. love them.   However, I HATE… let me emphasize that… HATE… strong word!   heartfelt sentiment… what they have done with the breeding of these cats.   They are so extreme that they are totally unrecognizable from the elegant cats that I fell in love with… OK.. rant over!

So.. as I was saying…. when I was creating this particular card I had Siamese Cat Song playing in my head and decided to have a little fun with this particular cat image!  I'm sorry if I left you with a little earworm…. I am Siamese if you please.   I am Siamese if you don't please 🙂

For some reason, I decided to make him a Redpoint Siamese.  Don't know why… I think because the color just seemed to go with the green.   Now, any Siamese lover will know that they don't have green eyes… they have blue eyes….  but, I had to make them green to go with the card base!   I did have a lot of fun coloring his "points" red, though.    As I love Siamese so much, I am going to dedicate this card to my beloved Gandalf.  My absolutely gorgeous lilac point Siamese who was just a wonderful companion.

Of course, I had to make the coughed up hairballs red, too!  This version really does remind me of those naughty Siamese in Lady and the Tramp 🙂

On a personal note:

I'd like you to meet Niles and his girlfriend, Daphne!    I promise that I will tell you all about Niles and how he is personally responsible for me contracting Lyme Disease.  In the meantime, I wanted to share a photo of the two of them strolling through our wetlands.

They really are amazingly beautiful birds.

These three guys have been hanging around for the last week or so…..

I will leave you with one last photo for tonight.   Amongst all of our black eyed and brown eyed Susan's is this single fuschia echinacea.   It is gorgeous!  We think it must have been amongst the seeds that we planted, but it is the brightest thing in the garden.

It makes me smile just looking at it!

Oh, before I go – a quick update on Lou's finger!    It is healing very nicely.   The worst of the bites (there were 4 teeth marks on his finter!) is still very sensitive, but overall doing really well.  So thank you to all of you who asked about that.

As always, thank you for stopping by my neck of the woods.   I'll be back tomorrow with my Paper Players challenge card.    In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. What a cute card Jaydee.
The fuschia Echinacea is standing there so pretty and proud as if it where saying; ‘look at me, aren’t I pretty?’
Once again, thanks for sharing more bits of nature with us.
Have a great and enjoyable weekend

  2. We had a kitty boy we are pretty certain had some Siamese in him. He was the chattiest, sleekest (he had a Siamese build), slinkiest, kitty. Oh how we loved him. :o)
    This is too fun! :o)
LOVE Niles and Daphne, the turkeys and the flowers. I’m also glad to hear Lou’s finer is almost healed. Whew!
I think we’re off to the Pork, Peanuts and Pine Festival. Doesn’t that sound intriguing? :oP
    Hugs!
P.S. Lou, I’m so glad you had no huge complications with your finger. That was scary!

  3. Daphne and Niles are gorgeous! I don’t recognize them, though. Some sort of crane, but what?
I love the look of Siamese, but definitely not their propensity for chewing wool. I was staying at my brother’s place, and working on a lovely baby sweater. I had neglected it for a long time, finally pulled it back out, and was nearly finished it. Very FINE wool, very intricate design–it was going to be stunning. I wrapped it up in a plastic bag and put it on top of the fridge when I went to bed. Next morning I got up early and went to find it. Darned cat had chewed holes all through it. I went for a LONG walk! I could have spit some hairballs, indeed!
