Wildflower Meadow

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday.

I managed to play along with three challenges on one card this weekend.

The colors are from Playdate Cafe.  The sketch is from Fab Friday and the theme is from Addicted to CAS.

I decided that I wanted to use Wildflower Meadow in a single color – I choose Blushing Bride.  I paired that with Perfect Plum and a pop of orange to finish off the fabulous color challenge.  I really liked the circle on the Fab Fridays sketch and decided to continue the theme of circles throughout my card for Addicted to CAS.  It's sometimes hard to keep a card CAS with so many elements, but sticking with a minimum of embellishments and layers, and a simple color scheme, helps you to achieve a CAS card.

Here's my creation:

I needed to add just a little something to the flower image, so took out my Versamark Marker and added the Versamark to the leaves and flowers of the image.  I then covered those areas with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.   It helped to give a little bling to the card, but still kept it muted.  You can see the repetition of circles not only for the flower layer, but also the embossed dots on the Perfect Plum layer, on the DSP, between the flowers, between the sentiments  and on the orange brad.  So, I think I covered that challenge 🙂

I chose to play along with Playdate Cafe because the colors were ones that I don't normally pair together and I love it when a challenge forces me to bring out some card stock and show it a little love!

Don't forget to pop along to each of the challenge sites, you are sure to find lots of fabulous inspiration.

On a personal note:

Lots of wonderful things have been visiting our garden. I spent 20 years in South Africa trying to spot a Tanager whenever we visited a nature/game reserve that was heavily wooded.  No luck.  I couldn't believe it when Lou shouted to tell me there was a new bird at the feeder and I found it was a Scarlet Tanager.  I didn't even need to consult my bird book, I knew that bright red and black plumage and it was totally unmistakable.   What's really surprising is that these are generally deep woodland birds, but we think he must have made a pit stop with us because he saw the birds at the feeder and felt safe.  He also probably needed some sustenance.   He spent the day with us and we haven't seen him since.  But, it was wonderful to have him grace us with his presence and brighten up the garden.  You can read all about this fabulous bird on the allaboutbirds webpage.  Sorry the photo isn't better!

Then, we caught sight of three Great Egrets just on the edge of our property in the wetlands.  New sightings for us, too!

Heron (1 of 1)-2
They stayed around for a couple of hours marching around the wetland.   It was really cool to watch them!

As always, thank you for visiting my little neck of the stamping blogosphere.   Warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight.  More prayers for those affected by the terrible tornadoes and storms in Oklahoma again this week.  My heart really does go out to the residents and prayers for more stable weather.

Hugs

Jaydee

  3. How I envy your visiting egrets and the scarlet tangier. We have had the tangier but don’t live in the right area for the egrets. How wonderful for you to be able to enjoy all this wildlife. Keep the pictures coming. Thanks so much for sharing.

  4. Great card, Jaydee! I love everything about it, even though I usually prefer the deeper, richer colours. Your birds made me very happy this morning. I’m trying to imagine how wonderful it must be to be able to look out your window or off your deck and see such wondrous sights. Thank you so much for sharing. And thank you for the prayers for those who need a lift. I’m definitely on that list this week, a really tough one.
