Happy Birthday for Seize the Birthday

Hi Everyone.

Happy Sunday.

I managed to get into my craft room twice this weekend and crafted just for the heck of it!  These days I seem to be in such a rush that I run into my craft room and make just the card I need for the Paper Players challenge and try to rush a couple of others in as well.  However, this weekend, I did my Paper Players card and sat and played… and I had such fun.

I decided to go check out some inspiration with challenges.  It's always a great way to restart my mojo.

I saw a fabulous sketch across at the fabulous Lesley's challenge site – Seize the Birthday.  Here's the great sketch:

March 1
I see this layout becoming a fall to layout for me!

Immediately I saw the sketch I knew that I wanted to pull out a die that I have had in my collection and never used.  The reason I never used it?  Because it is so fiddeley and I didn't know how I was going to get the thing stuck down, cos the stems of the flower are so minute!   However, on the onlinecardclass I did recently, I saw one of the instructors use a nifty little tool called a Sticker Maker.   Now, I may have been sleeping, but I had never seen one before.   I have one now… and it was perfect for this die cut!

Here's my card:

See what I mean?  I could never have applied that die cut to paper even with a glue pen.  With the sticker maker it was a breeze.  I ran the die through my Big Shot with Wild Wasabi card stock and a piece of Calypso Coral dsp from the Sent with Love set.   I used a piece of that same DSP for the vertical layer on the left hand side, too.

Well, you know the drill :-)  Pop along to seize the birthday and check out the fabulous design team and submission cards.  Lots of great inspiration for you there.

On a personal note:

No sighting of Archimedes today!  We think he must have been holed up for the day in another part of his range.  We hope he comes back tomorrow.

Today we bumped into our next door neighbors parents.  They were checking out the progress on their daughter's house.  Well, they are building two houses down from us and will be moving in a couple of months after our next door neighbors.  They are a fabulous couple and just as passionate about the wetland and nature as their daughter!  So, we now have three houses out of the 4 who are restoring their gardens, taking down the buckthorn, replacing with native planting and putting up bird houses and feeders!   It was really wonderful to hear that they were so excited.   As for us?  Well, anything that improves the lot for our wild friends is a good thing!

Oh… before I go.  I wanted to share a photo of a fabulous light fitting I found.   We liked the one in the stairwell going up to the bedroom level.  It was nice.   But, I saw this stunning one online and couldn't resist it.  It was really hard to get a photo of it with any sort of scale.  It's nearly two feet in diameter, but doesn't look that in the photo.

Here's a calose up of the detail…. It's awesome!

Now, I don't know about you… but that reminds me of the NY city skyline.   Or the Hong Kong skyline.  and… I LOVE IT!!!!

That's all for tonight!  Have a fabulous Monday and, as always, thank you for stopping by my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your visits and your comments do mean a great deal to me.

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee
