Hello…… for Paper Players 136 and retrosketches #53

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and she has an awesome color challenge for us all.

Now, everytime I do a color challenge, I need to go find a sketch challenge to use.  I popped across to Retrosketches and they had this great sketch:

Rs53
Once
I saw the sketch, I knew that I wanted to use banners and the focal
element on the sketch led me to choosing the sentiment, too.

I
pulled out some Patterns Pack DSP and a new Papertrey Ink die and stamp
set that I got a couple of months ago.  I also decided to add texture
with the SU Vine and Hexagon embossing folders.

Here's what I came up with for the two challenges:

In
order to make the vanilla focal layer pop, I distressed the edges with a
little Early Espresso Ink and then did the same on the vine layer, too.

Now,
you know what to do next….. pop along to the challenge sites and
check out the inspiration cards and play along.  You can check out what
the rest of the Paper Players team have created for you by visiting
their links below.

On a personal note:

Firstly,
hugs and love to Pammie.  I know this was a tough day for you, my
friend.  But I also know that Rose will be looking down on your today
with a smile on her face, hand in hand with Les.  I was thinking about
you, and her, a great deal today.

I thought some of you might like
to know that it appears that our little feline visitor may have visited
us Thursday night.  We  had left food out on the porch, just in case he
was hungry and returned.  We woke up Friday morning and the bowl of
food was almost entirely gone.   As usual, he left no little footprints
…. but we think it was definitely him.  You can see a photo of him on this post

Archimedes has been visiting us, too.  I thought you might like another photo of him.  I know I never get tired of taking them!

Archi
Isn't
he awesome?    We really do hope that he's going to continue to hang
around.  He sits in the trees all day, moving around occasionally.  Even
the building going on next door doesn't seem to phase him!

Beth…
you asked me about the sentiments I use.  I use a lot of sentiments
from Papertrey Ink and occasionally from Technique Tuesday.

Pam…
you asked about the camera that I use.  I use a Sony DSC H50.  I like
that it has a decent soom and that it has super steady shot
technology… important for me when I shoot on extended zoom.  However,
the one thing I haven't figured out yet, is how to take decent shots in
low light.  Other than that, I really like it.

As always, thank
you for visiting my little area of the stamping blogosphere.  Your
visits and your comments are much appreciated.   Warm hugs and prayers
for those of you who need a little lift tonight.  Have a fabulous Sunday

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Jaydee, the pearls add just that extra “somethin somethin” and the card is so pretty. Love it. What I enjoy more, though, is the rest of your posts – your pictures and your stories – and the glimpses of your lovely house. Have a wonderful week end!

  2. Great card with the large “hello” and all the lovely embossing. Archimedes looks quite at home in the woods behind your house. Super great shots of him with your camera. Thanks for sharing pics of him and your sweet card!

  3. Such an awesome card…love the big bold type on your “hello” diecut! AND the owl…I am swooning! I have never seen an owl out during the day! Lucky you!

  4. Great card, Jaydee. I love all the white area, the different kinds of embossing, and the die cut hello. Thanks for sharing your nature photos, too. The owl is amazing.

  5. Thanks for the information about the camera. The shot of Archimedes is beautiful. Love your card, will be casing it for sure. Glad to hear the cat has been back to eat. That weather is not something you want to see animals out in without food. Have a good week.

  6. Oh my Jaydee, love that owl photo…he looks like a barred owl? So cool. Your card looks amazing on Vanilla…so pretty.

  7. What a pretty card! I love the different embossed textures, and that “hello” is such a great focal image. How cool to be able to see that owl out your window! I don’t think I’d get anything done all day — I’d want to just sit and watch it.

  8. I’m not sure which is more gorgeous…your card or that beautiful owl! 🙂 Love all the texture on your card and the bit of sponging on the focal shape is the perfect pop. Love the banners and the perfectly colored pearl accents. Fabulous, my friend!

  9. Such a pretty card with all of that fabulous texture! How lucky are you to see that sweet feathered face outside your window? I just love owls! 🙂
