Checking in, a little of this, a little of that… and another clue!

Hi Everyone.  Happy Monday.  I hope you all had a great weekend!

So, I promised to give you another clue if no-one could work out what our recycled bar top is made of.  Now… there were some fabulously creative suggestions (from bricks to fish-scales to recycled cars to toilet tissue and tires).  Then there were some I didn't even know about – like fly-ash and sunflower seed hulls.  Then there were those fabulous recycling items like aluminum, plastic bags, cat food cans, pop bottles, etc.  It's amazing how much you can learn about recycling from a blog candy question – I know I did!

So… in case you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about – you can check out my post HERE and check out all the fabulous answers.

Anyway, here's one more clue – a look from the top!  I'll leave this photo up until Tuesday night.  I'm thinking that some of you might get it after this.

I thought this little puzzler was perfect for Earth Day.   Earth Day is usually the day in the year where I make my major environmental contributions, including planting trees.  It's the time of  year that prompts me to give back to Mother Nature.   When I was very young – about 5 (yes… multiple decades ago!) my Mother was the one who told me that she was very concerned about what man's progression was doing to our natural resources.  Yep… long before it became a discussion and even before Rachel Carson published Silent Spring.  It was only much later in life that I realized what an influence my mother had on me in this regard.  So… paying homage to Mother Nature on Earth Day is also paying homage to my mother, and something that meant so much to her.

Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me in the things that she can create that so many of us never see.   I saw this picture on a slideshow on MSNBC taken underwater in the Virgin Islands.   It took my breath away – it really did.

Now… apart from the fact it is an incredible photograph….. it's the subject that is just so stunningly and hauntingly beautiful.    You can click on the photograph and go look at the other pictures and creatures that were part of the competition.

Now… not only is April 22 Earth Day – but it is also Pammie's birthday.  Now… I was going to show you a photograph of my beautiful friend Pam.  However, as my photographs are all packed – I couldn't scan one and show you.  So… I shall just have to show you what I looked like when Pam and I first met. 

I still remember that day.  We had moved into our new house and there was this skinny blonde, pretty  little girl outside the house next door who immediately asked my mother if I could come out and play!  Well, we have been playing for 5 whole decades.  Pammie is truly my lifelong friend.  A friend who knows me inside and out.  All my good things and bad things.  The person I shared everything with – including when the hairs started growing under my arms!  The person with whom I shared all my dating stories.  The dearest person in the world.  The person I am so proud to call my friend.  The person who is flying out to visit us in our new house – and we cannot wait for her and John to arrive. :-)  The friend with whom I have shared so much and love a great deal.

Now… here's a picture of what I looked like when we met and I promise, I will share pics of Pam when they are unpacked in the new house.

Pammie.. my friend….happy, happy birthday.  With many thanks from that little girl whom you befriended all those decades ago.
