Tonight's card features a sneak preview of one of the sets from the new Summer Mini catalog. My oldest friend – in terms of years that I have known her, I might add – not her age 🙂 – loves fairies. I saw this set in the new Summer Mini and decided this was perfect for her birthday card this month.
I ended up using a color I don't use often – Orchid Opulence – and a variety of colors to water color this fabulous image.
I also used the new Smooch Spritz over the entire water colored image to give it lots of subtle shine.
I kept the card clean and simple to let the image take center stage. Of course, I absolutely had to use the fabulous satin ribbon in Pretty in Pink.

I really enjoyed coloring the image – it was amazingly relaxing and I loved the way the image came to live. I used a mixture of water color crayons and markers to color the image.

There are three layers for the focal image. There's a piece of Orchid Opulence 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". The pretty in pink is 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" and the whisper white is 3" x 3"
One of the things I love about this image is that you can make the focal flower any color and co-ordinate the rest of the card to match.

I couldn't get a good close up of the shimmer. It really is very subtle and makes it look as though you have actually used shimmery white paper – the difference is, the shimmer goes over the image.

Adorable! I’m sure your “old” friend will love it. I can’t wait to see the new mini, and am sooo excited about the color changes. Is it me or does the new color list make anyone else hungry– early expresso, cherry cobler, cookie crumb, melon mambo, pumpkin pie and so on. At least the SU colors aren’t going to show up on my hips! :0)
