Happy Monday. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
I got to play with some fun colors for the new Sunday Stamps challenge. I also got to play with a freebie that arrived with my last Altenew order. I wasn’t sure about the dies when I first looked at them, but once I started playing with them I decided they were definitely a keeper. What a great freebie! The die set is called Hibiscus Layering Die and it die cuts the most fabulous texture!
Here’s a sneak peek:

Normally I would have been inclined to create a red hibiscus, but the fabulous colors across at the Sunday Stamps challenge inspired me to use this soft shade of pink. Here’s the color challenge:

Such a great color challenge. The brown grounds the colors and the almost lime green lifts them! Love it.
I die cut the elements from colored cardstock and then set to blending various shades of pinks, greens and browns to give them depth. I did end up adding some Copic marker to the middle of the flowers. Normally I would have colored the anthers on the hibiscus yellow, but the color challenge didn’t include yellow, so I made do with a browny/pink.
I die cut the leaves with the two shades of green and then adhered all the pieces of the flowers together. I then arranged them and added the leaves.
I wanted some texture for the base of the card, so I pulled out my old woodgrain cardstock from Altenew that I have been hoarding for about a decade!
I just couldn’t find a better place for the sentiment, so ended up placing it in the middle of the arrangement. Here’s my full card:

I also have no idea why the photo looks out of focus in the middle! It seems to be happening between saving it on photoshop and adding it to my blog!
The final step for the card was to add some splatters in a bronzey-brown and gold. I really do think this set was an amazing freebie from Altenew!
I’ll be back with another card tomorrow. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
