Hi Everyone. Happy Monday night.
So, faithful readers, I am no longer a video virgin!Yep I made my first video. In fact, my first two videos!
Now… some of you may find this very strange, but…. I have NEVER taken a video. I have never shot videos on vacation; I have never shot videos on my cell phone; Never. Nada. Nothing! So, getting a video, setting it all up, trying to work out how things worked. How much lighting. How much zoom. What space you have to work with……. oh… yeah… and then there's the issue of having to listen to yourself as you edit the video.Well…. I think I'm going to hire someone to do voice-overs! Seriously, my English accent has been so polluted by living with an Australian for 15 years that I think I need to go back for elocution lessons. I now elongate my A and O vowels. Aaaaaaargh! 🙂
My darling hubby, who is, of course, a great movie critic (so long as he isn't shooting his own!) decided that my first "real" video was way too formal and that I have spent waaaaay too long presenting in Corporate America and that I need to chill a little. Mmmmm…… presenting and teaching in formal circumstances is second nature to me…. let's see… can I do this without my ingrained formality!
Well….. here's a look at one of the cards that I made on Saturday morning with the new Angelic Joy set – and a little look at my first ever recording. Yep. What you are about to see is my first ever, un-edited, un-scripted, un-prepared video. In fact, it isn't really a video – it was my attempt at trying to get the stupid thing to work. I couldn't even work out how to zoom, how to turn it off, how to fit it into the tripod…. the camera is great – and really easy…. but it was all new to me. Also, I had no idea about the sizing for the captions/subtitles….. So…. this is video is in it's rawest form. I'm hoping that at least you might get a laugh out of this one.
How not to create a crafting video
Then, here's the link to the video on how to make the Gift Box Bow. The one that went on this card
Update: Hi everyone. Looks like I have both video links fixed. here's the link to the video that shows you how to create the Gift Box Bow.
There are so many things wrong with this video… but I hope you will bear with me as I sort out the kinks and get an idea of how to get the lighting right, my hands in the correct position…… well, at least where the camera can actually record what I am doing! Caption sizing…..Oh yeah… and remember how to tell the time!
NOTES: A point on the measurements on this video. I measured the ribbon out at 4 inches – and those are the instructions on the video. However, I went back and measured the ones on the original card – they are a little smaller – 3 3/4. I think that the bow looks better at 3 3/4 for the ribbon length – as the bow is a little tighter. Also, try not to push the ends of the ribbon when you have folded them over. You want them to stay raised. In the video I actually press them down, which creates creases, and the bow is a little less "puffy"!
I might re-make the video – but it took me for ever to work out how to do it, how to edit it, how to get it from its original size of 6.23 GB – yes… that is 6.2 GB…. get it to an open site, re-do it after I over-wrote it…. you get the picture…. so, I'm leaving it as is for now.
Continued prayers for Trish…. stay strong, my friend….we continue to pray for you during this journey. Prayers also for Germaine, T, Pri, John and Sue, Lesley and Arthur… let's hope that Arthur finally gets the treatment he needs!
As always, thank you for your visit. Your support is much appreciated.
Have a fabulous Tuesday
Hugs
Jaydee

How much fun! You were great-keep practicing, we are all counting on you. How interesting to hear your voice, I love your accent-not what I expected.
Well, you are far ahead of me – I’ve only wished I could make a craft video. I have not figured out how to do it yet. I loved hearing your voices – wonderful accents. The link for your “bow” video didn’t work for me, though. When I click on it it brings me to a screen where I have to sign in. Oh yes, I loved your card – gorgeous.
I too could not get your second video. It asked me to sign in but not a place to start a new one. I loved the first video and I know you will do a great job.
Oh, Jaydee, I could listen to you speak all day long. What a fabulous accent–whether Lou has corrupted it or not. ;o) I love how there are different accents from different regions in the UK, just like here in the States.
I too was unable to view the second video (I had no idea you were a Mac user–LOVE my Apple products!), but the first was too fun. Thanks! You obviously have a good sense of humor to be able to poke a bit of fun at yourself. Frankly, I didn’t think it was that bad. :o) And, the card is GORGEOUS! :o)
I can’t wait to see more!
HUGS!
Sue and Doris…. the links are now fixed. Thanks so much for letting me know that there was a problem. I really do appreciate it!

You did it!!! Such a wonderful thing to be able to put a voice to a face. Very nice voice and accent too, if I might say so. Thanks so much for putting a video together. You did great. I would listen and watch your instructions anytime. Looking forward to many more. About the card drive, I’ve been busy and am still working on it…I know time is running out.
I LOVED both videos, and I LOVED hearing your voice, Jaydee!! I’m thrilled that now I know how to make that ribbon bow! Thanks SO much for taking so much time to do this! Now that you’ve learned how to do them, doncha think you’ll do more? Pretty please??
Hugs,
Susan
Your video tutorial was excellent Jaydee, really easy to listen to and I understood every word! Your Aussie/English accent is lovely, even smiled when I heard the word “gunna” used several times, a true Aussie slang word! I use it all the time as well! Keep up the good work and hope you have another tutorial available soon.
