Amazing You for Paper Players #360

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has chosen:

I think all Mom's with school going children have this on their mind this weekend.    It's been a long time since I have had to think about that and, because we always tend to think of younger kids as being the ones going back to school, I decided to go a different route.  The last time I did back to school shopping was sending the beautiful C back to college and thought about creating a card for an older teenager as my take on this challenge.

As I was going for a female card, I went with a simple pink, grey and white color scheme.  I stamped the flower and leaves from the Altenew Amazing You stamp set onto Neenah Solar White card stock.  I then used my Prismacolor pencils to add a little grey and pink shading within the flower and leaves.  I also added a little shimmer on the flower with my Spectrum Noir pen.  Here's a close up of the shimmer and shine:

I love how soft the colors are together.   For the sentiment, I inked up the sentiment with Versamark and heat set it with superfine white embossing powder onto a piece of grey cardstock.

Here's my sophisticated teen back to school card:

I love this sentiment and it has many different uses – but thought it would also be a good one to inspire a young woman on her way back to college 🙂

If you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than the fabulous creations from our talented design team:

On a personal note:

Well, the last couple of weeks have been a rollercoaster.  Two weeks ago our black and white fur baby had a medical issue and I've spent the last two weeks going backwards and forwards to the vets and specialist vet.  (Before Charlie came to live with us, something happened between him and a vet.  Consequently he is terrified of them and literally climbs the walls of the vet room when he is there.)

Cats are strange animals – and because of the way they metabolize, they need to eat regularly or they go into liver failure.   I won't bore you with all the details, but it has been a tough ride with lots of sleepless nights and stressful times.  We were referred to the specialist internist vet 10 days after he first got sick.  Luckily he is recovering and is almost back to his old self, but it has been an emotional time, but I am glad that he is on the road to recovery.

So… I should be back to crafting and sharing more frequently and will be back tomorrow with the blog candy and a little bit of fun that I have been promising 🙂

In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight – and extra prayers for those affected by Hurricane Harvey

Hugs

Jaydee

  7. Very pretty an elegant Jaydee, with a sentiment that has great teen appeal too! Sorry to hear about your kitty but thankful the worst now seems to have passed.

  8. First of all, I’m glad that your Charlie is doing better. Sometimes I think it’s extra stressful because our fur babies can’t talk and let us know what’s wrong. Your card is stunning and I like how you themed it for an older student…just perfect!
