Happy Sunday. It's my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and I have a color challenge for you.
When I chose these colors, I had Spring in mind. Why? Well, that is because I am so NOT ready for fall or winter. The leaves might be turning and the days have been very cool… .but inside my head, I am still celebrating late Spring and early Summer.
So, when I went to set up the Paper Players challenge for tonight, I was very surprised where the amazing design team had taken these colors. They went into really unexpected places… and, you know what… they work! I hope you check out their amazing designs.
BUT… it's where YOU take it that matters. We can't wait to see what you do with these colors. So, where did I go with them? No cash prizes for guessing that I went with a Spring/Summer flower 🙂
Here's a closeup of that wonderful soft pink with the gorgeous texture from the silver embossing powder:
I chose to work with the Altenew Build a Magnolia. I stamped the magnolia onto Neenah solar white card stock and heat set the image with silver embossing powder. I then used my Prismacolor pecils to color the flowers and leaves. I chose to do minimal coloring for this challenge. Once I was happy with the colors, I die-cut the flowers. For the base layer, I embossed the stitched rectangle die, instead of die-cutting it. I then used my blending sponge and some Altenew pink ink and colored behind where the flower would be set. Once the coloring was complete, I popped up the flower and stamped the sentiment onto a scrap piece of card stock. I added a little silver mirror cardstock under neath it.

You can just see the pale pink shading behind the flowers. I promise this card is so much prettier in hand than I could photograph it!

Isn't that sentiment fabulous? I always have difficulty finding the right sentiment for the inside of my cards, so was thrilled when Altenew came out with this wonderful Heartfelt Sentiments set. Of course, I had to find a pink envelope to go with it! I repeated the magnolia on the front of the card, and the sentiment on the flap.

On a personal note:
Thank you to all of you who left messages, or sent me emails, to see how Charlie is doing. He is not out of the woods yet – but is so much better than he was a couple of weeks ago. We have to keep a close eye on him for several things, but he is eating and playing. Not quite up to his normal level – but it is good to see the progress! He really is an absoluely sweetie and even though he grizzled, growled, hissed and spat at the vets – they see the sweetness underneath all of that 🙂
I was making a couple of cards this past week – sadly, they were condolence cards. He managed to jump into my spare cardstock drawer and he really is too cute! You can see he is not completely back to health as his coat is standing up. I call it parrot feathering. But he is, at least, bright eyed!

Oh, thanks for the picture of Charlie. He’s so cute! So glad to hear he is progressing well. I adore your card as I too think pink and silver look are so special together. I personally am loving the cool weather, although does it mean a colder winter?
This is such a pretty card! I love how you embossed the stitched frame around the magnolias. It adds so much to the focal point. I love the picture of your cat as well! So soft and delicate and out-and-out beautiful! The framing and stitched detail are subtle and perfect for this delicious blossom.

You are so right about verse sentiments too – there really aren’t enough of these about and your chosen one is lovely and will be appreciated by the recipient for sure. What a beautiful CAS card, Jaydee. I love that blossom and it looks superb embossed in silver. I really enjoyed working with these colors. I’m so glad to hear your little Charlie is feeling better, too. He is such a sweetie 🙂
Jaydee, these magnolia blooms are GORGEOUS! I absolutely love the silver embossing and your coloring is lovely! The embossed background is the perfect showcase for these lovely blooms. So happy your Charlie is feeling better. I will continue to pray for him. Lots of hugs! XX
