Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday Night. Now, y'all know what Saturday night means…. it's my card for the Paper Players Challenge. This week our fabulous hostess, LeAnne, has a color challenge for you.
Well, I don't know about you, but these colors really felt Christmas-sy to me. I then needed a layout. Off to Freshlymadesketches to see what they had in store for us.
I then needed to find a stamp set….mmmmm… the stamp set I had in mind wasn't going to work with this sketch, so I flipped it. Now… I was cooking! I really wanted to use the beautiful Chickadee from Beautiful Season and thought it would work well with the color scheme. Here's my take on the sketch and the color challenge.
I have no idea what happened with my camera, but it kind of has soft focus on it!
The River Rock was the problem for me. So, I decided to incorporate it in two different ways. 1) as a frame to the Always Artichoke DSP and 2) to color the Very Vanilla focal layer. I used an Inkspirations sponge to pick up the color directly from my stamp pad and sponged it all over the outer 3rd of the card, trying to leave the center with less color. This really toned down the Very Vanilla and made it look more Crumb Cake, without being as dull. (For some reason, I really find River Rock a little dull!) I absolutely had to add just a touch of gray for the Chickadee. Sorry, LeAnne 🙂
We hope that you will join us for another great challenge this week. I know that you will all make wonderful things with this fabulous color scheme. So, don't forget to pop along to the Paper Players and check out the amazing inspiration cards from the design team, and join us for the challenge.
On a personal note:
The last two days have been pretty chaotic and I am really pleased it is the weekend. I've been so busy, that I haven't even had time to think about the house and all the decisions that still need to be made!
The weather was 60 degrees here today. Excuse me? Isn't it the middle of November in Minnesota????!!!! I watched about 100 snowflakes fall on Wednesday. I got so excited thinking that this might actually be our first snowfall, alas, nothing. We really need some moisture, whether it is rain or snow, we really need to break this drought.
As always, thank you so much for spending a part of your day in my little area of the stamping blogosphere. Your visits always mean a great deal to me.
Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee

I too find River Rock a bit “dull”. It’s a very versatile neutral (is it green? brown? grey?) but rather blah. You used it beautifully with the AA and RHR, though. And, yes, those are most definitely Christmas colors.
Your little chickadee is so sweet and I can’t imagine LeAnne begrudging you a wee bit of grey. ;o)
Snowflakes? Really? Then, 60 today? Crazy! We’re looking at mid-70’s next week and find that insane. In fact, B and I haven’t turned on the heat yet and are now trying to see how long we can go without doing so. We’re not sure, but *think* we may be able to make it to Thanksgiving. ;o)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and great big hugs!
Outstanding!!! Love how you sponged some around this pretty image. Gorgeous card Jaydee!

Drought? Wow! We have had lots of moisture here, but no snow yet. They are calling for it on Wednesday. I am taking 65 students to perform at the big theatre out of town on Tuesday night and really hoping for no snow!! Your card is so pretty Jaydee, you used the sketch perfectly and that bird is so sweetly coloured!! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!
This is such a pretty image and I love your soft coloring; I also love that you chose to highlight the green as your main color! Very soothing!
You really know how to make this stamp sing Jaydee! Love the layout and the way you’ve incorporated River Rock. Also love the sentiment in French…tres jolie!
Jaydee, this is the perfect image for this layout. You worked the River Rock in perfectly. Love the colors!
I’m still thinking about your last post as I type this. Wow!
Your card is gorgeous, Jaydee. I really like how you you showcased Always Artichoke. Your coloring is fantastic, as always. I really want to ink up this set but don’t think I could even come close to the beautiful detailing you added. Right now the only birds I see with frequency are the Blue jays and the hawks that reside in the woods behind our house. One of the Blue Jays was especially animated this afternoon…he had a LOT to talk about. They have a really interesting “voice” don’t they?
It was 82 here today…and in the 40’s on Thursday. This crazy weather is getting to be a bit much. Hope you had a great weekend! Big hugs! 🙂
Gorgeous and serene, Jaydee! You do such a marvelous job with this set! We had quite the blizzard on Wednesday…but of course it melted when it hit the ground! And we actually hit 70! Woo hoo! Talk about crazy weather!
Beautiful card Jaydee, I love the softness of colour and the touch of red.
Jaydee, This is simply beautiful. The layout fits perfectly with the lovely stamped image and color combination.
Isn’t’ it great to let go of life’s stress and stamp for a bit? Your project is just fantastic.
