Beautiful Season – Paper Players Challenge #65

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday Night.

As usual, Saturday night is my Paper Players Challenge card reveal.  The fabulous Anne Marie has a great sketch for you this week.  We hope that you are inspired to come and play along with us.

August Sketch

I decided to change the focal layer shape to fit the stamp set that I was using.  I really wanted to use Beautiful Season and that called for an oval.  Instead of using DSP for the background panels, I decided to do a tone-on-tone Cherry Cobbler layer.  To add interest, I ran the second Cherry Cobbler layer through my Big Shot with the Snow Burst embossing folder.  (I am loving this folder!)

Here's my take on the challenge.

Pp65

Of course, I had to bring out the Dazzling Details and cover some of the edges of the leaves and stems of the holly with a little bling.  I also colored some Basic Pearls with a sharpie and applied them as the berries.  The last thing I did was take a small Basic Pearl and color it with a black sharpie and add it to the Chickadee.  It really gives life to his face.

As I moved the sentiment, I decided to add a little scrunched Cherry Cobbler ribbon.  I like the softness that it gives.  So, what do you think?

Don't forget to pop along to the Paper Players and check out the amazing design team cards.  I promise you that you will find lots of inspiration.

On a personal note:

It was a glorious, glorious, glorious early fall day here today.  It was cold this morning – in fact, I wore a jersey!  However, this afternoon it warmed up a little and the sky was blue and clear.  Some of the trees are starting to color, but we are still a couple of weeks away from reasonable color.  I really do love this time of year.

I finally got to craft today.  I swear, it took me for ever to get going!  It's almost as though I forget how to compose a card, or use a stamp when I've been away from it so long!  I managed to get 3 cards and a couple of 3-D items made.  It felt really good.  Generally, when I stamp, I turn on classical radio.  Today, I just felt like something different.  I downloaded the new Barbra Streisand CD, "What Matters Most".  Played it loud, sang along, and just chilled with my stamps and the music.  I then upped the tempo and played Adele.  Both amazingly talented ladies.  Lou and I were so lucky to see Barbra Streisand in concert a couple of years ago.  A long time dream.  She didn't disappoint.  It was an amazing evening.  A couple of weeks ago we were supposed to go to see Adelle.  However, Lou ended up going to dinner with a client that evening…. so… the less said about that the better!!!!

As always, thank you for visiting my blog.  I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday.

Warm hugs and prayers to those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Jaydee

  1. Outstanding! Love the Cherry Cobbler and it’s so perfect with the image. Really like how you colored the pearls for the berries too. So very pretty.

  2. I love it! The chickadee is one of my favorite stamps in the new catalog. I love the tone on tone look with the embossing folder. And the scrunched ribbon is a perfect accent.

  3. It was a beautiful, beautiful day here as well–perfect for celebrating my brother and sis-in-law’s 50th wedding anniversary. Yikes, how can that be?
That snowburst embossing folder seems to be a favourite of many people. Love the added touch it gives to your card. And your bling, Jaydee, is the dazzlingest! (yes, I know that’s not a word). The snow sparkle is lovely.

  4. Wow…so pretty! Don’t you just love this set! the cherry embossed panels on cherry look smashing together, I never think to do that! Such a beautiful creation!

  5. This is a gorgeous card. Glad you were able to get back to your stamping. I had to get a new computer monitor so ended up with a wide one. It distorts everything I think. To me, your focal image looks round. So I am glad you mentioned it was oval. The layout looks oval to me. I don’t think I like this new monitor.

  6. This card is so beautiful! I love this set and what you have done with it. The pearls are just super.

  7. My first idea was to use the same color for my panels as I did on the base and I should have! This looks so elegant and really keeps the eye focused on that gorgeous image.

  8. Cherry Cobbler is truly the most perfect Christmas red. It is rich and bold and wonderful. It is the perfect compliment for your little chickadee, who is absolutely adorable, btw. :o) I always love all those extra touches you add–the DD, the pearls, the embossed background. All combined make your cards something special.
Adele? I ADORE Adele! What a voice. Man. What a voice. What a gift. I love the “feel” of her music, if that makes sense? It’s modern and new, and yet, borrows so much from the 60’s.
Hugs and prayers for those needing a bit of a lift.

  9. Beautiful Jaydee! I love the added dazzling details and colored pearls, especially on the eye. So clever!

  10. Sometimes, you simply take my breath away with the beauty of the card. This is one of those times. Simply stunning.

  11. Jaydee, I just love your take on the sketch! The three embossed panels really add such subtle detail, while keeping the focus on tat gorgeous main image. The scrunched ribbon is a gorgeous touch. I simply love everything about this one, especially your shading. So pretty! I’m a big Adele fan, as well. Her voice is amazing! Big hugs to you!! 🙂

  12. Jaydee, What a beautiful and elegant Christmas card. I love the embossed background and perfectly scrunched bow. Your coloring is just fabulous and the dazzling details is the perfect little touch for a winter image. I am definitely going to have to try the sharpie on pearls. Love it!

  13. This is gorgeous! I love the embossed paper behind the image and your colored pearls are awesome! I love this stamp set, but don’t own it…yet…
