Beautiful You for Paper Players #426

Hi Everyone.  Happy Sunday.

It's my turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and I have a sketch for you:

I decided to make this card for a work colleague who is coming up for her 3rd year of being cancer free.  I thought the image, and the sentiment, from Beautiful You would be perfect to express congratulations on reaching this milestone.

I'm also entering this card in the Time Out Challenge

The friend this card is for – would love this quote!

To add some interest to the background, I used my Altenew die-cut.  I didn't want to detract too much from the focal image, so decided to die-cut it in white and back it onto white.

I die-cut a circle and stamped my image onto that.  I used some old SU DSP to paper piece the dress and hat.  I added a little bit of color and the image was complete.  I popped it up on some fun foam and added the sentiment.  To add a little shimmer and shine, I cut a piece of glimmer paper and placed it underneath the sentiment.

Here's a closeup:

Life Looks Beautiful (1 of 1)-3

I really do think there is a wonderful sense of freedom and happiness with this simple image.  It's wonderful.

Here's my card:

Life Looks Beautiful (1 of 1)-2

I added the same image to the envelope:

I hope you will join us and play along this week.  As usual, the design team have some fabulous creations as inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well, if I thought it was cold when I posted my Paper Players card last week….. it's certainly going to be much colder today!   We are expecting about 6-8 inches of snow and wind chills from -35 to -55.  Yes, that really is MINUS 55!  Lou is going to go out and make sure the birds and animals have lots of warming food out to help them get over this little spell.   We don't seem to have much let up either, as mid-week we are expecting historic lows.  I swear my feet are cold just thinking about it!

I'm hoping to get into my craft room to make some cards today.  If I do, then I will be back later in the week with some cards for you.  In the meantime, stay warm and warm hugs for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. I just love your card Jaydee! All of the details are amazing! From the textured background, to the polka dot dress, to that little pop of sparkle. Your friend is going to love it! I’m shivering reading about your weather. Brr! I remember -55 when we lived in North Dakota and it is not fun at all. I’ll be thinking about you both and I hope the week goes by quickly. Hugs!

  2. What a beautiful card, Jaydee. The sentiment is so appropriate and meaningful. Your friend will treasure the card and your caring.

  5. Jaydee, your friend will cherish this gorgeous, thoughtful card!!!! I love every detail! The background die, the image and your polka dot pieced dress. I bought this stamp and never used it. Thanks for the inspiration. I have three friends battling cancer and I need to CAS your card. It is so inspirational! I am in Indiana and the wind chill is -35 as I write this. I DO NOT like this kind of weather. Stay warm, My Friend. Love the sketch this week! XX

  6. Lots to love about this card. I LOVE that image. It looks great paper pieced. Love that you just used pink on white, and that little bit of silver is fantastic. Great card for our challenge. Thanks so much for playing with us at Time Out!

  7. I know your friend will love and cherish this card. It is absolutely perfect…from the sliver of silver to the pink polka dotted dress. It’s a gorgeous card!

  8. First off…LOVE this sketch and I’m really loving your thoughtful, gorgeous card that will be such an uplifting piece of happy mail for your friend! Hope you are surviving the cold and also hope your temps will climb upward as they are predicted to do in VA! I am NOT enjoying venturing out in the bitter cold every day for my radiation treatments! Brrrr!!

  9. Thanks, Linda. The sentiment does seem so appropriate for someone who is 3 years cancer free although I had never thought I would use it for that.
    Hugs

  10. Joanne, YOU ARE RIGHT! It is SO Pretty Woman… I hadn’t made the connection. Well spotted (excuse the pun!)
