Stunning Cosmos for Freshly Made Sketches #372

Hi Everyone.

Happy Monday.

Popping in with a quick post today.  I did manage to spend a little time in my craft room yesterday and played along with this great sketch at FreshlyMade

As the vertical element was going to be popped off the page, I didn't want to add more bulk to the card by adding an embossed or speciality paper for the middle element.  I decided to use a stencil to create a pattern for that area instead.   I then used my Ellen Hutson stitched dies to add a stitched detail above and below the stenciling.

Here's a closeup:

For the vertical element, I stamped two flowers from the Altenew Stunning Cosmos set and die-cut them with the matching dies.

I added a little shimmer and shine to the flowers with a gel roller:

I mounted the pink flower and stem directly onto the card base, but popped up the yellow flower to add some dimension.

A nice, bright card with spring in mind…. Mind you, looking out of our window – Spring is a long way away.  Oh… and let's not talk about the weather advisory that puts us at close to -50 from Tuesday to Thursday!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

Hugs

Jaydee

  1. Beautiful, Jaydee! I love your interpretation of the middle panel- the stitched lines are perfect. Loving the bright springy florals- you are right, spring is looking a long way off but at least we can look at these flowers! Thanks for sharing with us at FMS!

  2. Truly gorgeous flowers – stunning with the bit of sparkle. And I love them on the stenciled background. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

  3. Congrats from me too! Love your cosmos card and the one you did ages ago. P.S. I thought I recognized the pinstriped paper you used a while back as one of the SU Nautical DSP, but I was wrong. Oh well. Stay warm and we’ll meet in the spring! Hugs!

  4. Thanks, Jeanne. I appreciate it. You know… I cannot remember what paper stack that was from… I know it was around 2009ish? So.. REALLY old!
    Hope you are staying warm
