Cozy Cup for Paper Players #662

Happy Sunday.

It’s the fabulous Joanne’s turn to host ouor Paper Players challene this week and it’s Clean and Simple Week.  Oh… yeah… when  I made my card I was in such a rush and didn’t see the Clean and Simple bit!  Me!  The clean and simple member of our team… and I didn’t read it!  So, today’s card isn’t really as clean and simple as I would have usually done!  However, I did bring out one of my favorite all time sets from The Greetery – Cozy Cup.  This time all dressed in Fall colors!

And here’s Joanne’s challenge for this week:

I began by stamping each of the elements from the Cozy Cup and die-cut them.  They were all stamped onto Neenah Solar white.  I have no idea why… but I just cannot find a decent Vanilla.  Most of them are just too yellow for me, so I ended up going back to white!  I then die-cut the mat for the coffee cup in a pale, warm grey and stamped the sentiment.  I took another piece of Neenah Solar White and used my favorite Knit Wits stencil to add a background so that I could ground the focal elements and also add a little more texture/interest.

Here’s my card:

Honestly, it was this set that introduced me to The Greetery – I just love the depth and detail you get on that coffee cup!  Oh, because I missed the clean and simple part… I added some leaves to the base of my card for a little extra!

I do hope you will join us and play along.  We would love to see what you create with Joanne’s clean and simple challenge.  As always the design team have some fabulous inspiration for you:

On a personal note:

Well, Lou and I are back home.  I must admit, the second half of our vacation was more than just a little strange.  As we got to the end of our week in isolation, I wasn’t sure if I was feeling cabin fever or Stockholm Syndrome!  We had spent a full week confined to our cabin.  The only people we saw was the specially designatd cabin crew who delivered our food three times a day.  The ship’s Doctor had told me to have lots of bed rest… well, there really wasn’t much else to do.  The TV had only a few channels and the internet was about as good as useless in the room as the signal didn’t cross through the metal fire door of the cabin too well!  Luckily the weather was glorious on a couple of days, which meant having the cabin door open and the fresh air streaming in.  With some time on the balcony wrapped in a blanket.  So, definitely a forced relaxation!

Needless to say, Lou did catch my germs, even though we tried really hard, it’s pretty impossible not to pass it along when you are in a small room together 24×7.  His body his handling it well, though, so we are grateful, once again, for the quadruple vaccination.  For me – it went straight to my chest which led to some level of discomfort when trying to breathe.  I do find myself getting tired and breathless and needing to sit when exerting myself.  Because of that I took advantage of the people carriers at the airport to get to and from the airport gates.  The Dr said it could be 8-10 weeks before the lingering effects go away – just in time for my next cruise!  But, we are both grateful that our infection was mild and gave us a tiny, little, feel of what those who are not so lucky go through with this bug.  The weirdest effect is the change to my sense of taste.  Both of us had different reactions – Lou lost his sense of taste altogether.  Me?  I just taste some things differently.  Sweet taste REALLY sweet.  So much so, that I can’t deal with most sweet things now.  Other things I can’t taste at all, some things just taste really weird!

Well, I am off to make some cards!  I’ll be back later in the week.  In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift today.

Hugs

Jaydee

  3. Oh my goodness, I loved your card and commented before I read your story. Oh goodness. I am sad to hear you got COVID. We just had our son home for his fall break and went to our house by the sea, and he too tested positive. We had just had our new vaccinations and do not have any symptoms. His case was very mild and in 5 days he was good as new. I have been thinking of you. I do LOVE your card. Hoping Lou is OK and that you are on the mend.

  4. Oh, Jaydee! Once again you have used my favorite The Greetery stamp set. I absolutely love every card you make with this set. One of the things I love about fall is settling in with a cup of chai latte, a snuggly blanket, and a good book or movie. Your card reminds me so much of this. Continue to rest up. Here’s to a speedy recovery!!!

  5. Jaydee, Your card makes me want to curl up in my chair with a good book and that cup of coffee. I love the design and the beautiful fall colors.

  6. Your card looks CAS enough to me to pass muster, Jaydee, and I know CAS when I see it! I love the cozy feeling of your card and I’m drinking my morning latte as I write this. Glad you’re feeling better!
    Xoxo, Fran
