Hi Everyone. Happy Monday.
Well, I am half-way through my stint as the Featured Designer at Merry Mondays this week and I've really enjoyed the two challenges so far!
The fabulous Debbie has a great challenge for us this week.
Isn't that image fabulous? I loved it!
When I was thinking about what to use as transportation, I remembered a set I had from last year called In the Meadow and it's made by Papetrey Ink.
I began by die-cutting the carriage and horse in Early Espresso cardstock and then die cut the snow drifts in silver glimmer paper. I did the same for the tree, but used my Copic markers to color the silver and make it green, instead.
I needed a pretty backdrop and remembered that one of the sheets of the All is Calm DSP had images that reminded me of trees and snowflakes – perfect for my project.
Here's my card:
Generally, I would "pop" the elements on dimensionals, but I really am trying to make cards that will go through the post, so decided that I would create a feel of depth by layering the various elements.
The design team have some fabulous cards with really great takes on the transportation theme. I hope you will pop along to Merry Mondays and join us this week. It's really time to start making Christmas cards 🙂
On a personal note:
I'm going to start off by giving a huge shout out to Colleen B and Gill whose cards for the Cards for a Cause card drive arrived this week! I was thrilled when two boxes of beautiful cards arrived on my doorstep. I know that the closing date for submissions isn't for a while yet, but it is so exciting – and suddenly feels so real – when boxes of cards start to arrive. Thanks so much to Colleen and Gill for supporting another card drive.
I'm expecting another parcel of cards to arrive this week for Colleen T who let me know that her cards are ready for dispatch! I can't wait for them to arrive. I'll let everyone know via my blog post as soon as they arrive.
As an aside… it was interesting that the first two people to tell me the cards were ready to be posted were both called Colleen!!!! So thanks so far to Colleen, Colleen and Gill. You guys rock!
Rach, thanks for letting us know about George. I had sent an email when you left your message, and really appreciate you letting me know that he is on the mend. Blockages are extremely dangerous for cats. We lived with this nearly three years ago when Merlin had a blockage. It was only due to the super-human efforts of our vet that he survived. So, I'm so pleased that you caught it in time and that he is on the mend 🙂
I'm running very late tonight, and have to be up early in the morning for a very early conference call. I'll be back tomorrow with another card! In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight. Beth continued hugs and prayers for you.
Hugs
Jaydee

This is great, Jaydee! Love the sparkling hills and tree – the perfect backdrop!
Lovely, Jaydee! I always enjoy seeing these diecuts….they make for a very pretty card! I would love to try out that mode of “transportation”!
What a beautiful card! :o) Boy I’m a sucker for a piece of glimmer paper. :oP
Hooray for cards rolling in! I need to get back in the “offudio” and get stamping some more…Eek! Maybe now that Bean has started school? Yes, Bean started school. Holy smokes.
As for George, he’s home! Hooray! I’m so glad we caught it just in the nick of time. He’s grumpy (it would seem grumpiness is rather contagious among kitties in the kennel, and honestly, I can’t say I blame him), but we’re all overjoyed he’s home. Let the special diet commence…;o) Also, I never got your email, lest you think I was ignoring you. :oS
Hugs!
P.S. Hi Lou! :o)
What a fantastically sparkly Christmas card! I love the silhouette of the horse-driven sleigh dashing through the snow!
What a fabulous scene you’ve created! That die-cut sleigh is gorgeous as is your backdrop.
Beautiful card. Your die cuts look great up against that lovely backing paper.
Have a wonderful and enjoyable day
Hi Jaydee, Welcome to Merry Monday as our Guest Designer this month, it’s fabulous to have you with us. Your card is lovely, I love the die cuts you used and the beautiful soft colours.
Very pretty Jaydee, I love the shimmer you added.
Your designer paper for the background is so perfect for the wonderful scenery you created. Great card!
The cards are coming UPS with due “guess” Sep 12th. Sorry it took longer but I had to find a larger box 😉 Colleen Teichman
