Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday
Quick card for you tonight for the fabulous sketch across at CaseThisSketch
It's a really versatile sketch and I decided to use my new Doodle Buds stamp set from WPlus9 again. I really do love this set and it's perfect to create a bouquet of flowers, with luscious, yummy neon colors for Summer. This will be going to my colleague who is at home having chemotherapy. I wanted to send her a note letting her know that we missed her and were thinking about her. I think the bright colors are perfect for her.
I'd also like to thank Laurie for enabling me with the Wonky Stitched Rectangles. Laurie sent me a card for my birthday and she had used these dies and I knew that I had to have them. So thanks, Laurie!
Here's my take on the sketch:
On a personal note:
Well, today I don't know whether to be happy or sad. I'm so happy for Queen Elizabeth the II who celebrates her 90th birthday today. What an amazing woman she is and a woman who has steadfastly done everything she can to "do her country proud" and lead the monarchy into the 21st century with a steady and firm hand, whilst dealing with some very difficult times. An amazing feat for a woman who was not born to be Queen. So, Happy Birthday, M'aam. May you continue to reign over your subjects for many years to come.
On the other hand, the death of our fellow-Minnesotan came as a surprise to many people. I caught about 5 minutes of coverage on the local CBS affiliate here in Minneapolis today and it struck me how Prince's music touched people across color, age and socio-economic barriers. The mixture of people out celebrating his life – and mourning – his death was pretty amazing. An amazing musician and an activist who did things the old fashioned way – with music and putting his money into supporting causes. An absolute icon. Long may his music "rain".
For those of you who visit my blog for nature photos…. here's a wonderful shot of one of my favorite little birds. The Nuthatches love the bulrush feeders we have – they are just perfect for them.
Isn't he wonderful? I think so.
I'll be back tomorrow with another card. In the meantime, warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.
Hugs
Jaydee
