Easy Events – Love

Hi Everyone.  Happy Friday.  Oh… yeah!  It's Friday!  I have to work some this weekend, but right now, I am going to take some time and just enjoy this fabulous evening.

I have a card for you tonight made with the Easy Events.  This is one of the cards that will be going to the troop drive and I think it's just perfect.  It's another project that was provided to us by SU during convention.  I love the mixture of Pool Party and Wild Wasabi with a touch of Melon Mambo.  Not a color scheme I would have put together on my own, but I think it works fabulously.

You all know that I LOVE this wide grosgrain ribbon and I think that I need it in Wild Wasabi now!!!!

This card had a couple of tricks that I wanted to point out to you, as they are probably not that obvious in the photo.

  • The corners were cut with the Itty Bitty Bits circle punch
  • White Baker's Twine was wrapped around each of the corners to make the frame
  • The focal image was colored with blender pens and classic inks.  However… you will notice that the background to the stamp is green and not Pool Party!  Note to self:  make sure the blender pen does not have residual yellow ink when coloring with blue! 🙂

Isn't that cute?  The envelope is stamped with the image, too.  I must admit, I am really loving working with the Naturals White paper.

I have a shout out tonight…. MARCIA!!!!  Marcia posted off 180 – yes, that's right ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY cards for the troops for our current OWH card drive.  I think that's pretty amazing.  That's 180 serving troops and 180 members of their family who will benefit from Marcia's tremendous gift.  So, Marcia.  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!  YOU ROCK!!!

Don't forget, you still have until the end of August to submit cards for our troops.  For each 20 cards submitted – with envelopes – you will be put into a draw to win free SU goodies paid for by me!

On a personal note:

It has been a very long week this week.  I don't really feel much like working this weekend, but do intend to take some time tomorrow to do some housecleaning (well, as much as I can with my leg!) and some crafting.  Brenda brought around Harry Potter for me (thank you, Brenda!!!), so I think I am going to watch that tomorrow night after dinner.  Lou leaves town again tomorrow for two weeks and, as I am not able to drive right now, we went out and did shopping this evening and it's off to the Farmer's Market tomorrow to get some wonderful fresh goodies for me to munch on whilst he is away.  I am really looking forward to some fresh cucumber, heirloom tomatoes, summer squash and some freshly picked arugula.  Yumm..  I can taste them already.  I think a little Caprese salad with some fresh argula is on the menu for dinner tomorrow.

Beverly, I know you must be having a FABULOUS time at Niagra – hoping you are managing to stay coolish!  Your convention goodies – and those for Crystal – will be winging their way to you tomorrow.

Jeanne, thank you for your WONDERFUL card!  I am so pleased you you are enjoying your blog candy goodies.  I loved the card you sent, and was so honored that you shared it with me!

Warm hugs and prayers for those of you who need a little lift tonight.

As always, thank you for your visit – and for your comments. Have a wonderful Saturday

hugs

Jaydee

  1. What a wonderful card. Love the corner notches and the twine – will have to try that out in the future. Keep taking care of yourself. You know, the housework will always be there. It’s more important for that leg to be well.

  2. What a cute cute card! Those colors look divine together and I too love the wide grosgrain ribbon. :o) I never would have thought to wrap the baker’s twine around the corners, and wow, I would have really been missing out. That little frame really sets off the image.
It’s so hot this morning there is NO WAY we would make it at the FM. The girls would meltdown the minute we got outside. We already have a heat index of 107 and it’s sure to go higher. It was 118 at 11:00 last night!! We’re laying low and staying in today. Thank goodness for a/c.
I’m sorry Lou has to leave you with your leg all banged up still. And Lou, I wish you safe travels and hope you are home again before you know it. :o)
Enjoy your weekend, friend, and try not to work too hard.
    hugs!

  3. P.S. Which HP? We’ve made it through 1-6 and are going to do 7.1 this evening. I know Lil wants desperately to watch, but I’m going to have to tell her no way.
I’m currently rereading Book 7 for the fourth (or fifth or sixth who’s counting?) time.
Hopefully the movie will provide a nice distraction for you. :o)

  4. Oh so sorry hubby had to leave again and not be there to be a Mr. Nurse to you….sure hope your leg is gettin’ better.
Yes, we have had a great/terrific/wonderful time and are back in the states now. We did everything that we had planned to do and some more . . . Oh was BLISTERY HOT, just not hot! lol
Nice card and thanks for sharing with us.
    Hugs,
